[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2011-09-01 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
This bug is surely fixed now, since Ubuntu has switched to a completely
different network system for many releases. So you can retry it now! ;-)

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2011-08-31 Thread Arkady
I'd just like to point out that this issue had been open for almost four
years, and this whole time the Ubuntu support team was (and still is)
quite capable of 'investigating the problem' by installing the release
in which the problem was reported and reproducing via the steps to
reproduce we provided in the issue. The problem didn't seem to be
wireless adapter chipset-specific, or at least you could have ruled that
out had you tried it yourself. You then could have tried it on later
releases to identify if it had been fixed already once you knew how to
reproduce it.

But, this all doesn't really matter as I gave up using Ubuntu because of
a number of other bugs that never seemed to get resolved :)

Thanks for the report James , It has been a long time without any
comment or a duplicate in this bug report and It is possible that the
bug has been fixed. May you please try to reproduce it with the latest
Stable Release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal and add the respective
comments to the report? You can learn how to get that release at

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2008-08-30 Thread Ken Norman
I'm experiencing this as well. EEE PC 900, fresh install of Ubuntu
8.04.1.. After a reboot, WPA2 resets to WPA, and I have to re-enter the
password and set it to WPA2 again if I want to connect to the same
network I was connected to before the reboot.

Why is this set to low priority? Basic networking features are something
that should be high priority and focused on.

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2008-07-21 Thread desof
Hi There,

It is my first time using Ubuntu (trying to move away from who you know) and I
have the same issue as described above. As a side note, after 10 minutes and
pocking around, system froze. Had to turn off computer (not a very good sign).
The only thing I had done is to open Experience ubuntu.ogg file from the
Examples folder. Player opened up then OS died!! No idea on what to capture or
troubleshoot that yet.

Sorry back to main topic,
Set up:
- Ubuntu latest 8.04.1 version with all patches applied as of July21, 2008.
- Trendnet WS633 801.1n router (Using WPA)

Scenario:
Ubuntu wireless network was properly set up and working after OS installation.
Reboot the machine.

Internet does not work anymore. Laptop is NOT connected to the router anymore.
Ifconfig shows no connection--- 169.xxx IP

Check the network settings, they all seem good though.
Manually insert wrong password, confirm.
Go back to the network settings, change the password again using the proper
one, confirm.
Internet is working again.

- Reboot again, wireless network not working AGAIN...

The network feature is such a basic feature that I am shocked to see a
problem with it.
Please upgrade the priority to fix the problem so we have a working wireless
feature. It is very annoying to have to configure this feature at each reboot.

Should you require more details, please do not hesitate to contact me
([EMAIL PROTECTED])

Many thanks ... Desof

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2008-07-07 Thread Bart Wensley
I see the exact same behaviour as Arkady:

Restarting machine causes the wireless network configuration to change
from WPA2 to WPA. When I reopen the network settings dialog and change
from WPA back to WPA2 then close the dialog, then open it again the
connection is still WPA2 but the password has now been blanked. Re-
entering the password finally allows a successful connection.

I am running a fully updated Hardy Heron 8.04.1 with a Linksys WMP54G
wireless card.

Why is this bug marked low priority? This currently means the Network
tool doesn't work properly with WPA2. Many non-technical users would
probably give up before figuring out that you can get it working again
after a reboot by going into the tool twice to fix the configuration.

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2008-07-07 Thread Arkady
Just a follow-up, when opening the dialog to change the encryption type
back to WPA2, reentering the password at that time will result in a
successful connection. (No need to open the dialog twice).

Still having the issue. As Bart Wensley says, surely this should be a
higher priority?

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2008-05-09 Thread Arkady
Any chance this is going to be fixed sometime soon?

Can confirm problem still exists with Hardy main release, using a TP-
Link WN610 PCMCIA card (Atheros) on a WPA2 network.

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2008-03-17 Thread teddziuba
I can confirm this bug on Gutsy. Using a Lenovo T61 with builtin
wireless, connecting to a WPA2 network works fine manually. When I
suspend the machine and then bring it back up, the connection does not
get re-established.

In network-admin, the encryption type has been reset to WPA instead of
WPA2. I need to manually set it back to WPA2 for the interface to
work again.

[Bug 150825] Re: Wireless settings aren't saved

2008-03-07 Thread TomasCassidy
I can confirm this bug still exists on the latest hardy alpha release.
I have uninstalled NetworkManager and I am using the rt61pci driver for
the wireless card. When I go into network-admin to set the wireless
settings for WPA2, it seems to save the configuration. After rebooting,
the settings have changed to WPA from WPA2, while the network password
is still there.

better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you?, Can you please
try with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release -
