Hi I have my Gnome login setup to automatically Ekiga when I login. Sometimes it never starts though, and if I try to start it myself it won't start. I have to log out and in again to start Ekiga. I attach an strace (is that enough) of when I try to start it myself. However, I just noticed there is another [failed/broken] Ekiga process running after login, so I killed that. Now I CAN start EKiga OK. Hi, thanks for helping me out. Killing evolution-data-server did not help. I tried to test ekiga from the Desktop CD and it worked perfectly! So I decided to reinstall Gutsy and now everything seems to be ok. I wonder what caused this disorder. I don't understand why it happened as I didn't install many things, apart from Automatix2. Hi, Can you try the following: Start ekiga, and try to kill evolution-data-server to see if it improves the situation. Maybe there is a deadlock... Hi, I'm using Gutsy AMD64 myself and I've not this problem. To make Ekiga versbose you need to change the opal library variant: $ sudo apt-get install libopal-2.2-ptrace (see this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ekiga/+bug/155285 ) Then, start Ekiga like this: $ ekiga -d 4 Let us know where it takes so long... It takes about 6 minutes to load. I had similar freezes with the Wizard (step 6/10), when I play around in the options as well as when closing the application. I think it might be a hardware compatibility issue, like the audio card perhaps. Although I installed Automatix2, I don't thing it messed anything that could be the cause of this disorder. Hmmm... looks like it works, but it takes about 5-10 minutes to launch. I have a fairly recent laptop (AMD Turion64 X2) so it's not a performance problem.
