[Bug 296327] Re: smb:/// No application is registered as handling this file
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 9372 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/9372 I can confirm this problem in 9.04: Typing smb://servername in a nautilus windows location bar works. But bookmarking this and trying to open the bookmark gives the error No application is registered. Using Connect to server gives the same problem. After applying the fixes from the last post by Michael Gefen (adding nautilus as smb:// protocol handler) it works. This should just work - so can the gconf settings be included in a bugfix release? Or should this bug be reported some where else in the stack? regards, Sune Woeller -- smb:/// No application is registered as handling this file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296327 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

The ability of your applications to print to a network printer is separate from the function of the gnome run dialog. [Bug 296327] Re: smb:/// No application is registered as handling this file
I was able to recreate this bug in 8.10. I can verify that the problem does not exist in 8.04.1. In 8.04.1, running smb:// brought up the nautilus network browser. The workaround is very simple. You should be able to navigate your samba network through the nautilus File Browser or through the Places - Network menu. Your printer should be listed there. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None = samba Status: New = Confirmed ** Description changed: Press Alt+F2 and type: smb:// Error message: No application is registered as handling this file This problem was impacting my jobs impress: Device URI: smb://192.168.50.225/HPLaserJ I can't impress 'cause this problem :-/ + + WORKAROUND: Browse the network directly through Nautilus file browser or + the Places-Network link. -- smb:/// No application is registered as handling this file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296327 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
