[Bug 480104] Re: External USB Maxtor disk: /dev/sdb1 not created
Hello. as I said in my message of 2010-02-05 the bug disappeared in karmic after the kernel release 2.6.31-19. I tested also with lucid release candidate kernel 2.6.32-21-generic and my disk is working correctly. Therefore I think this bug can be closed now Regards -- External USB Maxtor disk: /dev/sdb1 not created https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480104 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 480104] Re: External USB Maxtor disk: /dev/sdb1 not created
Hi bagl0312, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 480104 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: needs-kernel-logs ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kj-triage ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- External USB Maxtor disk: /dev/sdb1 not created https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480104 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 480104] Re: External USB Maxtor disk: /dev/sdb1 not created
Hello, after installing latest kernel update in Karmic 2.6.31-19 my external hard disk was correctly recognized again. I was able to re-create an empty partition (ext4) on the disk and to mount correctly it. So I would say that the bug was solved in kernel 2.6.31-19 -- External USB Maxtor disk: /dev/sdb1 not created https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480104 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 480104] Re: External USB Maxtor disk: /dev/sdb1 not created
I found some more documentation about this bug. It seems related to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/400652 Message #27 talks about a fix. Should it be already available on kernel 2.6.31-15 ? I tried again to connect my disk after the last kernel update but situation is always the same, /dev/sdbX is not created and the messages: [335430.696114] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense Key : No Sense [current] [335430.696126] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Add.
