[Bug 1748245] [NEW] dovecot version 2.2.22 does not honor ssl_cipher_list

2018-02-08 Thread Antonio J. de Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Tried several configurations on /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-ssl.conf
regarding the parameter  ssl_cipher_list

example:

ssl_cipher_list = ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:!

should allow only the stated cipher.

result

sslscan --no-failed mail.example.com:995

Accepted  TLSv1  256 bits  ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  256 bits  DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  256 bits  DHE-RSA-CAMELLIA256-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  256 bits  AES256-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  256 bits  CAMELLIA256-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  DHE-RSA-SEED-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  DHE-RSA-CAMELLIA128-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  AES128-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  SEED-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  CAMELLIA128-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  ECDHE-RSA-RC4-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  RC4-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  RC4-MD5
Accepted  TLSv1  112 bits  ECDHE-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  112 bits  EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  112 bits  DES-CBC3-SHA

I can set whatever line on ssl_cipher_list, it won't change anything

on postfix I can set

smtpd_tls_mandatory_ciphers = high

result:

sslscan --no-failed mail.example.com:465

Supported Server Cipher(s):
Accepted  TLSv1  256 bits  ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  256 bits  DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA

Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  AES128-SHA
Accepted  TLSv1  128 bits  CAMELLIA128-SHA

or exclude ciphers with

smtpd_tls_mandatory_exclude_ciphers = DHE-RSA-CAMELLIA256-SHA

and that works on port 465.

2018-02-08 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1739991] Re: error processing archive (--unpack): unable to open '.dpkg-new': Operation not permitted

2018-02-08 Thread Vitali Müller
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1685984 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1685984

I can confirm this bug on a machine.
Ubuntu version: 17.10.

I tried to install texlive/kile etc.
The first error occured on "oxygen-icon-theme_5%3a5.38.0-0ubuntu1_all.deb",
which has been reported already at
https://askubuntu.com/questions/975837/apt-dpkg-error-ubuntu-17-10

After trying out several things, I could install oxygen, however, other
packages were affected as well.

I do not think that this is a duplcate of bug #1685984, because this one
is more general.

[Bug 1746327] Re: [MIR] libfastjson

2018-02-08 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
MIR looks good in general, but it *is* a JSON parser, and could
potentially deal with untrusted data. Looking at the code quickly, it's
pretty complicated, so it doesn't sound unlikely that there'd be some
potential issues there.

I agree that in this case it's for syslog, but it's still important that
we consider any future uses when the package is in main.

Let's get the Security Team's opinion on this.

mm, memory_hotplug: do not associate hotadded memory to zones until online

The current memory hotplug implementation relies on having all the
struct pages associate with a zone/node during the physical hotplug
phase (arch_add_memory->__add_pages->__add_section->__add_zone).  In the
vast majority of cases this means that they are added to ZONE_NORMAL.
This has been so since 9d99aaa31f59 ("[PATCH] x86_64: Support memory
hotadd without sparsemem") and it wasn't a big deal back then because
movable onlining didn't exist yet.

Much later memory hotplug wanted to (ab)use ZONE_MOVABLE for movable
onlining 511c2aba8f07 ("mm, memory-hotplug: dynamic configure movable
memory and portion memory") and then things got more complicated.
Rather than reconsidering the zone association which was no longer
needed (because the memory hotplug already depended on SPARSEMEM) a
convoluted semantic of zone shifting has been developed. Only the
currently last memblock or the one adjacent to the zone_movable can be
onlined movable. This essentially means that the online type changes as
the new memblocks are added.

Let's simulate memory hot online manually
  $ echo 0x1 > /sys/devices/system/memory/probe
  $ grep . /sys/devices/system/memory/memory32/valid_zones
  Normal Movable

  $ echo $((0x1+(128<<20))) > /sys/devices/system/memory/probe
  $ grep . /sys/devices/system/memory/memory3?/valid_zones
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory32/valid_zones:Normal
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory33/valid_zones:Normal Movable

  $ echo $((0x1+2*(128<<20))) > /sys/devices/system/memory/probe
  $ grep . /sys/devices/system/memory/memory3?/valid_zones
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory32/valid_zones:Normal
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory33/valid_zones:Normal
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory34/valid_zones:Normal Movable

  $ echo online_movable > /sys/devices/system/memory/memory34/state
  $ grep . /sys/devices/system/memory/memory3?/valid_zones
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory32/valid_zones:Normal
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory33/valid_zones:Normal Movable
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory34/valid_zones:Movable Normal

This is an awkward semantic because an udev event is sent as soon as the
block is onlined and an udev handler might want to online it based on
some policy (e.g. association with a node) but it will inherently race
with new blocks showing up.

This patch changes the physical online phase to not associate pages with
any zone at all. All the pages are just marked reserved and wait for
the onlining phase to be associated with the zone as per the online
request. There are only two requirements

- existing ZONE_NORMAL and ZONE_MOVABLE cannot overlap

- ZONE_NORMAL precedes ZONE_MOVABLE in physical addresses

the latter one is not an inherent requirement and can be changed in the
future. It preserves the current behavior and made the code slightly
simpler. This is subject to change in future.

This means that the same physical online steps as above will lead to the
following state: Normal Movable

  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory32/valid_zones:Normal Movable
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory33/valid_zones:Normal Movable

  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory32/valid_zones:Normal Movable
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory33/valid_zones:Normal Movable
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory34/valid_zones:Normal Movable

  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory32/valid_zones:Normal Movable
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory33/valid_zones:Normal Movable
  /sys/devices/system/memory/memory34/valid_zones:Movable

Implementation:
The current move_pfn_range is reimplemented to check the above
requirements (allow_online_pfn_range) and then updates the respective
zone (move_pfn_range_to_zone), the pgdat and links all the pages in the
pfn range with the zone/node. __add_pages is updated to not require the
zone and only initializes sections in the range. This allowed to
simplify the arch_add_memory code (s390 could get rid of quite some of
code).

devm_memremap_pages is the only user of arch_add_memory which relies on
the zone association because it only hooks into the memory hotplug only
half way. It uses it to associate the new memory with ZONE_DEVICE but
doesn't allow it to be {on,off}lined via sysfs. This means that this

[Bug 1748258] [NEW] libdigidocpp: unbuildable in bionic due to openssl transition

2018-02-08 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

The transition to openssl 1.1.x has begun in bionic. As a result,
libdigidocpp is currently unbuildable because its build-dependencies are
not co-installable.

 - libdigidocpp build-depends on libp11-dev and libpkcs11-helper-dev, in
addition to libssl-dev itself, all of which are openssl 1.1.x
 - libdigidocpp build-depends on libdigidoc-dev and libxml-security-c-dev, both
of which are stuck on libssl1.0-dev for now.
 - libssl-dev and libssl1.0-dev conflict with one another (for obvious reasons).

It is possible that further changes are needed to the upstream source to
make it compatible with openssl 1.1; I have not looked at this, since
the unsatisfiable build-dependencies make it difficult to examine.

This is the only package in the Ubuntu archive in such a state, and has
been removed from the Ubuntu release pocket for the time being to allow
the openssl transition to progress. If someone wants to have
libdigidocpp included in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, they will need to address
this conflict.

[Bug 1748259] [NEW] unable to install from iso

2018-02-08 Thread gregrwm
Public bug reported:

even tho i boot the iso with "toram", even tho the iso is in a partition
different from where i want to install, even tho i don't want to change
partitioning at all nor format any partitions, it still doesn't work to
install ubuntu when the iso was booted from the hard disc. this is an
unfortunate and unnecessary limitation.

Closing this as this is not a bug.
A workaround exists and there is no "complete loss of databases".

This report was marked being a duplicate of

this bug report not a duplicate.

[Bug 1712803] Re: spapr_hcall from ubuntu_kvm_unit_test failed on ppc64el with Z-hwe kernel

2018-02-08 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Po-Hsu, or anyone else affected,

Accepted qemu into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/1:2.5+dfsg-
5ubuntu10.21 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1748267] [NEW] smbclient-share-access dep8 test should create the user it needs

2018-02-08 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Public bug reported:

The d/t/smbclient-share-access DEP8 test currently assumes there is an ubuntu
posix user present on the system. This works for ubuntu, but won't work
elsewhere, like in Debian for example:
(...)
Setting password for the ubuntu user
+ + echo secret\nsecret
smbpasswd -s -a ubuntu
Failed to add entry for user ubuntu.
...
cannot create /home/ubuntu/data: Directory nonexistent
+ base64
+ chown ubuntu:ubuntu /home/ubuntu/data
chown: invalid user: ‘ubuntu:ubuntu’
+ cd /home/ubuntu
/tmp/autopkgtest.mxWhuu/tree/debian/tests/smbclient-share-access: 22: cd: can't
cd to /home/ubuntu
...
and so on

Fixing this will allow us to submit these new tests to debian and reduce
our delta.

[Bug 1748247] [NEW] [CVE] Arbitrary command execution in the removable device notifier

2018-02-08 Thread Simon Quigley
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

KDE Project Security Advisory
=

Title: Plasma Desktop: Arbitrary command execution in the removable
device notifier
Risk Rating:High
CVE:CVE-2018-6791
Versions:   Plasma < 5.12.0
Date:   8 February 2018

Overview

When a vfat thumbdrive which contains `` or $() in its volume label is plugged
and mounted trough the device notifier, it's interpreted as a shell command,
leaving a possibility of arbitrary commands execution. an example of offending
volume label is "$(touch b)" which will create a file called b in the
home folder.

Workaround
==
Mount removable devices with Dolphin instead of the device notifier.

Solution

Update to Plasma >= 5.12.0 or Plasma >= 5.8.9

Or apply the following patches:
Plasma 5.8:

https://commits.kde.org/plasma-workspace/9db872df82c258315c6ebad800af59e81ffb9212
Plasma 5.9/5.10/5.11:

Patches for this bug should also contain fixes for CVE-2018-6790:

KDE Project Security Advisory
=

Title: Plasma: Notifications can expose user IP address
Risk Rating:Low
CVE:CVE-2018-6790
Versions:   Plasma < 5.12.0
Date:   8 February 2018

Overview

Plasma has support for the Desktop Nofications specification. That
specification allows
embedding images in notifications. Plasma was not sanitizing the HTML that
forms the notification.
That allowed for notifications to load a remote image leaking the user IP
address. This is in turn
made a bit worse by the fact that some chat software doesn't sanitize the text
they send to the
notification system either meaning that a third party could send a carefully
crafted message
to a chat room and get the IP addresses of the users in that chat room.

Workaround
==
Disable notifications

Solution

Update to Plasma >= 5.12.0 or Plasma >= 5.8.9

Or apply the following patches:
Plasma 5.8:
https://cgit.kde.org/plasma-workspace.git/commit/?h=Plasma/5.8=5bc696b5abcdb460c1017592e80b2d7f6ed3107c

I'm assigning the Bionic fixes to Rik; I'm unsure if plasma-workspace is
still affected, but it seems kde-runtime is in fact affected.

[Bug 1612524] Re: package mariadb-server-core-10.0 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: попытка перезаписать «/usr/share/mysql/charsets/cp850.xml», который уже имеется в пакете mysql-common 5.7.

The file /usr/share/mysql/charsets/cp850.xml is no more part of mysql-common
package :
$ apt download mysql-common
$ dpkg --contents mysql-common*.deb

A workaround could be:
$ sudo apt-get -f install

[Bug 1726545] Re: Gparted not working in Wayland Ubuntu

2018-02-08 Thread Curtis Gedak
The upstream GParted team added a work-around to version 0.30.0 to
enable it to run seamlessly under Wayland.

See https://gparted.org/news.php?item=214

Unfortunately the packager for Ubuntu decided to not use the --enable-
xhost-root work-around.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/1737248

The consequence is that GParted only runs seamlessly on X, and not on
Wayland.

You might try petitioning the packager who made the decision.

[Bug 1747889] Re: (Acer Aspire V3-372) System not booting after update

2018-02-08 Thread Moritz Baumann
Some additional information: On my system, a similar message is visible
for half a second every single time I boot. When I was stuck in the boot
loop, I saw another line that said "Reset system".

I'm not 100% sure I'm experiencing the exact same issue, but the very
same update also caused a permanent boot loop on my laptop.
