[Bug 1925522] Re: Introduce the 465 driver series, fabric-manager, and libnvidia-nscq
Performed a review of the remaining 2 NEW packages. Non-blocking issues for libnvidia-nscq-* - Build-Depends on a non-versioned debhelper? - Same as above, debian/rules BRANCH variable is set to 999 - Same as above, weird `rm -f lib*.so` in override_dh_auto_build - cleanup needed Besides that, I guess all the 4 new packages suffer from some lintian warnings (forgot to mention those earlier). Possibly good to have some overrides for those that make no sense, but I'm listing some that would be good to fix: W: libnvidia-nscq-460 source: ancient-standards-version 3.8.0 (released 2008-06-04) (current is 4.5.0) W: libnvidia-nscq-460 source: override_dh_fixperms-does-not-call-dh_fixperms (line 124) W: libnvidia-nscq-460 source: package-uses-deprecated-debhelper-compat-version 9 Still, I think it's non-blocking for a package of this caliber. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925522 Title: Introduce the 465 driver series, fabric-manager, and libnvidia-nscq To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fabric-manager-450/+bug/1925522/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1928710] Re: ubuntu server 20.04 LTS for ARM64 on Raspberry Pi4 could not handle more than 32 USB3 devices
So it looks like other than the internal devices that count towards this xHCI max limit of 32 (what are they? Audio? Bluetooth? Can they be disabled to free up space), the 16 port USB3 hub itself is probably daisy chained internally and takes up spots as well. I've read that by switching to the eHCI driver I would not be limited to this 32 but I would downgrade to USB2 speed instead, which I could live with. So if this limit of 32 on xHCI just cannot be solved with the 1 USB controller onboard and the xHCI driver, is there a workaround to load the eHCI driver instead? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928710 Title: ubuntu server 20.04 LTS for ARM64 on Raspberry Pi4 could not handle more than 32 USB3 devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1928710/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1664844] Re: No distinction between link-up and link-down interfaces
** Description changed: [Impact] + + Since very long, we had a feature request in netplan to determine the + activation mode of a given network interface. We got requests to enable + marking some interfaces as 'manual', meaning that networkd (or any other + backend) would not control its state in any way, requiring the + administrator to bring the interface up or down manually. The other + request was to mark a interface as 'off', that is: forcing the network + interface to always be down until the configuration option isn't + changed. + + This was mainly requested for the networkd backend and requires the new + feature of specifying ActivationPolicy= for interfaces, alongside the + required netplan changes. + + This feature is present in systemd 248 - for netplan supported stable + series we have decided to cherry-pick and backport this feature on top + of current systemd. The networkd feature basically adds the following 5 + ActivationPolicy modes: always-down, down, manual, up, always-up. For + netplan purposes we only use 'always-down' and 'manual'. + + The netplan feature, hopefully landing as part of 0.103, is called + 'activation-mode' and supports two values: 'manual' and 'off'. + + [Test Case] + + For the systemd part: + + * Bring up a VM test environment with either a dummy interface or an interface that can be safely manipulated. + * Upgrade systemd to the -proposed version + * For the target interface, create/modify the networkd configuration (for instance by adding /etc/systemd/network/20-.network) to include the ActivationPolicy= setting in [Link], for instance: + + [Match] + Name=dummy0 + + [Network] + Address=192.168.10.30/24 + Gateway=192.168.10.1 + + [Link] + ActivationPolicy=manual + + * Try all 5 combinations of ActivationPolicy values: always-down, down, + manual, up, always-up - doing `sudo networkctl reload` everytime and + checking if the interface behaves as expected. + + [Where problems could occur] + + The patchset modifies quite a lot of code in the networkd link handling + code paths, so regressions could appear in how networkd manages links - + maybe by suddenly certain interfaces not getting brought up as they were + before. + + --- + + + [Original Description] + + [Old Impact] Users need to write valid configuration, especially for new features that are approved by not yet implemented, such as marking a link "optional". - [Test case] + [Old Test case] Write a netplan configuration: network: - version: 2 - renderer: networkd - ethernets: - eth0: - optional: yes - dhcp4: yes + version: 2 + renderer: networkd + ethernets: + eth0: + optional: yes + dhcp4: yes And run 'netplan apply'. Netplan should write configuration for the link and not error out with a syntax error. - [Regression potential] + [Old Regression potential] This has a minimal potential for regression: the new keyword was added to be supported already by consumers of netplan (users, cloud-init) so that they could start writing config with the new key and that configuration to be seen as valid by netplan before the backend is implemented. There is no functional change besides allowing for the value to exist in a netplan configuation. --- If I define an interface in netplan (even one which has no DHCP type and no addresses), it's not possible to determine if its adminStatus should be enabled (link up) or disabled (link down). I can completely exclude an interface from the netplan configuration, but I think that implies that not only its adminStatus is "disabled" by default, but also netplan will not be able to do anything "nice" for the interface, such as rename it to what the user specified in MAAS. If I include the interface but don't specify any addresses or DHCP, it isn't clear if it will be link up (my current assumption) or link down. There should be a way to allow an interface to be recognized by netplan (and even partially configured, waiting for the user to run something like 'ifup ' on a manual but not auto-started interface in ifupdown), but marked administratively disabled. (adminStatus down) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664844 Title: No distinction between link-up and link-down interfaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1664844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1928773] [NEW] New upstream microreleases 10.17 12.7 13.3
Public bug reported: [Impact] * MRE for latest stable fixes of Postgres released on May 2021 [Test Case] * The Postgres MREs traditionally rely on the large set of autopkgtests to run for verification. In a PPA those are all already pre-checked to be good for this upload. [Regression Potential] * Upstreams tests are usually great and in additon in the Archive there are plenty of autopkgtests that in the past catched issues before being released. [Bug 1891817] Re: Raspberry Pi: u-boot hangs when (non-boot-related) USB disks are attached during boot
USB MSD support under u-boot on the Pi does seem to have several problems (we'd attempted to get USB boot working with u-boot, but while some devices would be recognized others wouldn't, or would only be recognized intermittently). As of groovy (20.10) we've moved away from using u-boot in the boot sequence so I'm afraid I'll have to mark this as "won't fix". However, it is now (since focal's .2 release) possible to migrate such an install away from using u-boot as well, which may mitigate your problems. [Bug 1921105] Re: SRU: backport cvise to 18.04 LTS, 20.04 LTS and 20.10
** Description changed: A follow-up to LP: #1895971, now backporting cvise 2.3. Not planning any further backports. cvise is a test case reduction tool used to reduce test cases for compiler issues. It's not yet available in the LTS release. Having it available in the same release as the compilers that you are debugging/using makes the test case reduction easier. Also needed is the dependency python-pebble. Regression potential: Maybe, but the testsuite of the package should be good enough to provide the confidence to update. It's a tool for debugging compilers, and reducing test case, so the affected target audience should be minimal. - Validation: the test suite succeeds during the build. + Validation: the test suite succeeds during the build + performing manual + exploratory smoketesting using the version of the package in -proposed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921105 Title: SRU: backport cvise to 18.04 LTS, 20.04 LTS and 20.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cvise/+bug/1921105/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Just wanted to post a comment here so others searching online might find this workaround. [Bug 1928586] Re: Desktop icons disappearing
No. It's not bug 1812883. I've actually described in detail what happens. The desktop icons aren't flashing. They disappear and stay invisible until I reactivate USB tethering. Let me describe the steps again: Step 1. Desktop icons are visible. Step 2. I connect my phone to the PC. Desktop icons are still visible. At this point, there's a dialog box on the phone's screen, asking "Allow access to phones data?". Options for me are to click "Allow" or "Deny". Step 3. Whether I click Allow or Deny, the Desktop icons disappear. Step 4. I activate USB tethering, and the Desktop icons appear. Step 5. I deactivate USB tethering, and the Desktop icons are still visible. The phone is again asking the Allow/Deny question. Step 6. Goto Step 3. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928586 Title: Desktop icons disappearing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1928586/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1928642] Re: [SRU] libreoffice 7.0.6 for groovy
** Description changed: [Impact] * LibreOffice 7.0.6 is in its sixth bugfix release of the 7.0 line: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/7.0#7.0.6_release * Version 7.0.5 is currently released in groovy. For a list of fixed bugs compared to 7.0.5 see the list of bugs fixed in the release candidates of 7.0.6 (that's a total of 50 bugs): https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.0.6/RC1#List_of_fixed_bugs https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.0.6/RC2#List_of_fixed_bugs * Given the nature of the project, the complexity of the codebase and the high level of quality assurance upstream, it is preferable to SRU a minor release rather than cherry-pick selected bug fixes. [Testing] * Upstream testing. Bugs fixed upstream typically include unit/regression tests, and the release itself is extensively exercised (both in an automated manner and manually). * A recent set of upstream's automated jenkins testing can be found here: https://ci.libreoffice.org/job/gerrit_linux_gcc_release/82662/console * More information about the upstream QA testing can be found here: * Automated tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Automated_Tests * Automated UI tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/UITests * Regression tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests * Feature tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Feature_Tests * Launchpad testing. [Bug 1903288] Re: Power guest secure boot with static keys: kernel portion
@Nayna Jain @Daniel Hm but we have CONFIG_LOAD_PPC_KEYS=y already which I would expect to be the only thing that loads keys into .platform keyring which was enabled as part of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1866909 LTC-184073 . Which keys are present in firmware / get loaded into .platform because of that? I would have expected canonical keys to be loaded by that into the .platform keyring, or is that not the case? Can you please share contents of "powerpc:db"? Ideally it should contain Canonical's two OPAL signing certs. If canonical keys are not in "powerpc:db", does it make sense to then add the two Canonical keys to the .builtin_trusted_keys_keyring, and then link the whole keyring into .ima keyring? I will attach the two Canonical OPAL signing keys here, and the ESL for them. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903288 Title: Power guest secure boot with static keys: kernel portion To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1903288/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: SRU Justification [Impact] Microsoft has requested the addition of the "mana" driver from Linux v5.11 [Fix] This patch set consists of 5 patches that are now in mainline. The patches add the VF driver for Microsoft Azure Network Adapter (MANA), and also changes the hv_netvsc driver's netvsc/VF binding logic to check both the MAC address and the serial number (this is required by the MANA VF driver). Microsoft would like to request the following 5 patches in all supported releases: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=64ff412ad41fe3a5bf759ff4844dc1382176485c https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net- next.git/commit/?id=ca9c54d2d6a5ab2430c4eda364c77125d62e5e0f https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net- next.git/commit/?id=55cdc26a91ac270887583945aef2bd460a2805f7 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net- next.git/commit/?id=45b102dd81491e30ac7596b5515856141f99319f https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net- next.git/commit/?id=d90a94680bc0a8069d93282bc5f2966d00b9c4a4 [Test Plan] 2021-05-17 15:25 UTC- -We tested the two versions of mana.ko: root@decui-u2004-vf:~# uname -a Linux decui-u2004-vf 5.4.0-1048-azure #50~sf00310147.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 11 02:06:24 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux root@decui-u2004-vf:~# modinfo mana | grep filename filename: /lib/modules/5.4.0-1048-azure/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/microsoft/mana/mana.ko root@decui-u2004-vf:~# uname -a Linux decui-u2004-vf 5.8.0-1032-azure #34~SF00310147.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 11 02:01:58 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux root@decui-u2004-vf:~# modinfo mana | grep filename filename: /lib/modules/5.8.0-1032-azure/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/microsoft/mana/mana.ko Everything worked as expected in our testing: 1. The MANA driver loads and unloads multiple times without any issue. 2. iperf TX/RX tests run without any issue, and the performance numbers are on par with what we get with the latest mainline kernel: the TX number is pretty good; the RX number is sometimes not great but this is a known issue with the latest mainline kernel as well. 3. "ethtool -S" and "ethtool -L" work as expected. 4. When iperf TX/RX tests are running, changing the number of the MANA NIC TX/RX queues and unloading/reloading the MANA driver work without any issue. [Where problems could occur] The driver may have bug(s) that cause a kernel crash. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-stop-nagging ** Summary changed: - Add Mana network driver + linux-azure: Add Mana network driver ** Tags added: bot-stop-nagging -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928788 Title: linux-azure: Add Mana network driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1928788/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857824] Re: kmimetypefinder5 misidentifies mimetype of python files containing certain strings
Qt actually prefers system copy from shared-mime-info if it's available. Here is the code for 5.12.8 (used in Ubuntu 20.04): https://code.qt.io/cgit/qt/qtbase.git/tree/src/corelib/mimetypes/qmimedatabase.cpp?h=5.12.8#n99 The internal copy (":/qt-project.org/qmime") is only used when the system one is missing (fdoIterator == mimeDirs.constEnd()). Furthermore, in Ubuntu 20.10 and 21.04 we are building Qt with -no- mimetype-database, which makes Qt use *only* the system copy: https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/qt/qtbase/-/commit/f0d53be16a31ea55 So I think it is a bug in shared-mime-info only, not in Qt. How can you introduce conffiles in grub-efi-amd64 & grub-efi-arm64 which is shared across releases? If in later series they have been removed from said package. That will cause a mess in focal+ then, since it will conflict with grub2-common there. Given that the future is for these conffiles to live in grub2-common, it might be easier to backport the move from grub-{platform} to grub2-common. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928674 Title: grub-efi-amd64 from grub2-unsigned has lost kernel/postinst.d script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2-unsigned/+bug/1928674/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: SRU Justification [Impact] Microsoft has requested the addition of the "mana" driver from Linux v5.11 - https://canonical.my.salesforce.com//5004K05pZQCQA2 + https://canonical.my.salesforce.com/5004K05pZQCQA2 [Fix] This patch set consists of 5 patches that are now in mainline.
