[Bug 786317] Re: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?)
I haven't tried ocelot yet, but on Natty it is only a problem with Unity -- ie going back to gnome removes the problem. When you look at the output from xinput it seems (and I'm not experienced here) that the driver is generating the right combination of ups and downs. So it seems to be some interaction between unity and some strange assumption that gimp is making (because I haven't seen any complaints about similar applications) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786317 Title: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?) [Bug 786317] Re: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?)
I tried to do some more work this time using Gimp 2.7.3 (compiled myself on Xubuntu 11.10 from some instructions) And using my Wacom intuos 3. I can confirm that both bugs are still there: - sometimes you make a stroke , but you might have just as well stayed in bed, because gimp won't move the tool - sometimes you get a stray point (x = 0 or y = 0) added to your stroke, resulting in long horizontal or diagonal splodges where you don't want 'em (some kind of race condition I expect) I'm using vanilla Xubuntu, so there's just xfce4 its desktop - no unity/metacity/... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786317 Title: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?) [Bug 786317] Re: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?)
upgraded to oneiric ocelot 11.10 (what ARE the Ubuntu people of power thinking about these days?) with Unity2D the gimp problem is different (but equally crippling) -- Wacom Intuos 3: when I touch the pad to introduce a stroke (eg brush or eraser), the gimp appears often to get a signal to draw in the top left hand corner, or sometimes on the left edge, so I end up with a long diagonal line or horizontal line, terminating at the real pen position. Naturally this makes gimp unusable. Maybe it is relevant that I have the windows set so that focus follows the cursor, something that makes gimp MUCH nicer to use than it is on a windows-style click-to-focus. I don't think the Unity team really understand this mode. I haven't yet tried with the gnome shell. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786317 Title: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?) [Bug 786317] Re: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?)
thanks Chris -- though the reason I think it's the same bug is that the solution is the same, ie go back to gnome desktop. I've now tested it and it works pretty well on gnome. (Actually, I still saw the sudden leap to x=0 or y=0 once or twice in hundreds of test strokes -- it must be some kind of race condition) (I just get the impression that Unity is nowhere near ready to use for the mainstream. I don't think any of the features are particularly helpful, and there are so many things that seem harder to do. As you say, eventually things will be sorted out. I'll have to get back to you on these. I'm still using gimp 2.6, mainly out of cowardice. meanwhile, I don't know the difference between gnome gnome shell ubuntu classic unity compiz metacity -- some of them are window managers, some are something else. thaks Rémi. Here's some more data. Failure occurs on both mp3 and ogg, and today I found it is the same on a commercial DVD -- sound stops 1:29 into episode (but video continues perfectly). I've had this setup working perfectly in all Ubuntu releases since Intrepid Ibex, but it stopped recently, perhaps after I installed Maverick (not sure when it stopped, though) 1) also today, discovered a work around: change default audio output settings in preferences from Alsa to OSS, and now it appears to be fine. Maybe I broke it myself earlier? but why would it stop so repeatably at 1:29? 2) issued pulseaudio -kill and checked it was gone with ps -aef, set VLS back to ALSA, but the problem returns. 3) tried to get a log file (this doesn't seem to work), and turned up the verbosity. The timing error messages main audio output warning started at about the time the sound stopped, and would have continued except that I stopped it. [Bug 678183] Re: audio-only playback always stops after 1.5 minutes on any file types
thanks again -- now tried Pulsaudio output setting, and it works on my test file too. Maybe the problem is that I changed the settings at one point (I was fooling around with the Jack demon at the time) and didn't know what was the correct default. summary: works with Pulsaudio and with OSS. doesn't work with straight ALSA. -- audio-only playback always stops after 1.5 minutes on any file types https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678183 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1008933] [NEW] gphoto2 brings down network card on camera file deletion
Public bug reported: this has happened for the last few versions of (x)ubuntu, still exists in 12.04. gphoto2 talks to canon 40D over USB in PTP mode. Most things work, but delete file (-d) or any command leading to a delete (eg --capture- image-and-upload) will fail catastrophically: * the operation does not wok * gphoto2 will not work again * weirdly my wifi USB card stops working and won't be coaxed back into life without a reboot. I get the same problem deleting a file on the camera using gphotofs Today I found a fix -- fetched libgphoto2-2.4.14 and gphoto2-2.4.14 from sources and compiled (against libusb-1.0.0) and I can cheerfully delete files without destroying my network. I don't understand the procedures involved, but can we please get this version of libgphoto2 into (x)ubuntu? thanks ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gphoto2 2.4.11-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-24.39-generic 3.2.16 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Jun 5 11:04:20 2012 InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gphoto2 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-05-14 (21 days ago) ** Affects: gphoto2 Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libgphoto Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libgphoto2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1008933 Title: gphoto2 brings down network card on camera file deletion To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gphoto2/+bug/1008933/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1823346] [NEW] SD card stays locked even when unlocked
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Release:18.04 After card reader device is used with write-protected SD card, write- protection incorrectly persists to future SD cards, even non-protected ones. To reproduce: 1) Insert non-protected SD card in card reader (confirm system normal): $ sudo hdparm -r /dev/sdd /dev/sdd: readonly = 0 (off) [result is correct] 2) Eject card, set physical lock on side of card, reinsert: $ sudo hdparm -r /dev/sdd /dev/sdd: readonly = 1 (on) [result is correct - card read-only] 3) Eject card again, unlock card, reinsert $ sudo hdparm -r /dev/sdd /dev/sdd: readonly = 1 (on) [result is **incorrect** (card still locked)] Because the lock is still set, the device always appears read-only. (For example, I cannot "dd" to /dev/sdd) Workaround: after removing the locked card, issue "sudo hdparm -r0" to turn off the lock. Then insert the unlocked card and the device will appear read/write. [Bug 1815730] [NEW] keyboard state scrambled after unlock
Public bug reported: after locking the screen with ctl-alt-l the keyboard state changes to something strange. I usually leave the keypad in the non-num-lock mode, so that eg "2" maps to up-arrow (otherwise my keyboard has no dedicated arrow keys, so this is important.) During lock (eg at the password screen) the num-lock seems to be engaged automatically, and I think 2 maps to 2 again (which isn't a problem.) However, after unlock "2" maps to something odd, neither "2" nor "up". I have to press num-lock TWICE to get back to my preferred no-num-lock state. This is wrong. The problem is similar with all the keypad keys, "2" is just an example. The arrow mode is something built-in to my Quick-fire cooler master cm-storm keyboard, it's not something I hacked myself. This behaviour appeared after I performed LTS upgrade from Xubuntu 16.04 to Xubuntu 18.04 I'm guessing this is the right package to report, as xscreensaver is not installed, and flock tries first xscreensaver-command and then "light- locker-command --lock" Description:Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Release:18.04 light-locker: Installed: 1.8.0-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 1.8.0-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1.8.0-1ubuntu1 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: light-locker 1.8.0-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-45.48-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-45-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Wed Feb 13 09:03:48 2019 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-09-28 (867 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) SourcePackage: light-locker UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to bionic on 2019-01-14 (30 days ago) ** Affects: light-locker (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1815730 Title: keyboard state scrambled after unlock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/light-locker/+bug/1815730/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1824169] [NEW] krdc asks for unspecified password when reconnecting
Public bug reported: If I quit krdc without disconnecting sessions (eg by logging out of xubuntu), then when I restart krdc it tries to restart the session (I don't think it should, but that's not the bug), and correctly asks me for a password. However, it doesn't specify the host when asking for the password. Since I connect to different hosts and I don't always remember which one I used last, I may type the wrong password (ie from a different host.) [Bug 1862451] [NEW] Dolphin (file manager) renaming other files when copying a file
Public bug reported: I opened Dolphin in a directory with a lot of large (video) files. I then created another Dolphin window of another directory (on the same file system.) I proceeded to move files from one to the other. Because the pop-up menu gets old quickly I held down Shift to make sure I got move behaviour without the pop-up. Expected Result: The file "old/A.mp4" is moved to "new/". Actual Result: The file "old/A.mp4" is correctly moved to "new/A.mp4" But in addition, some random "old/B.mp4" has been silently renamed "old/A.mp4" This happened twice. I've "refreshed" dolphin and it seems the change is real in the filesystem, not just an error in the display.
