[Bug 64235] alt-tab behaviour in Ubuntu Dapper

2006-10-05 Thread harsha
Public bug reported:

After an upgrade to the updated packages in Dapper, I notice a weird
behaviour with the way I use the alt and the tab keys for changing
application windows in Gnome. As I expect, I hold the alt key and use
the tab key to change windows. But now, I don't get this behaviour
consistently. I can replicate an instance when there is no change in the
application windows even after I hit alt-tab many times. However, it
works fine if I hit the only the alt key a second time.

I hope I got across what I intended to say.

[Bug 64235] Re: alt-tab behaviour in Ubuntu Dapper

2006-10-09 Thread harsha
I figured out that it has something to do with the emacs that I checked
out from CVS. This behaviour still exists with GNU/emacs v 22.

I've installed Lucid fresh from the iso under VirtualBox. There seems to be no
issue for a fresh install.
But an upgrade does not succeed.

resolution seems to be fine otherwise.

I have tried changing the compiz settings, downgrading my nvidia drivers
to current and other solutions on the interwebs, but to no avail.

I have to correct my statement above. Even 0.62 version does not work.
Ubuntu is unusable on this hardware.

[Bug 735020] Re: Ubuntu 11.04: Support AMD Bulldozer processor - glibc (memset)

2011-04-14 Thread harsha jagasia
Turning off all SSEx routines for an issue with one routine (memcpy)
will hurt performance quite a bit. Why not just stay at glibc 2.12 (with
the memset changes we submitted to trunk) which will result in better
performance and also deal with the memcpy issue? Or is the window for
that closed?

I am also facing the same problem. This happens on the livecd too. So I
am almost sure it is a problem with the forcedeth network driver. Please
fix this or give me some workarounds.

After rebooting with the 0.62 version of forcedeth it seems to work.
Will confirm after doing more tests.

[Bug 735020] Re: Ubuntu 11.04: Support AMD Bulldozer processor - glibc (memset)

2011-04-13 Thread harsha jagasia
We looked at machine with Ubuntu 11.04 on it. And it looks like
__memset_sse2 is not really avalaible in a dump of the glibc at
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6. Nor is __memcpy_ssse3 avalaible. In
fact, none of the symbols with _sse* suffix are avalaible. Does Ubuntu
use glibc or eglibc? If glibc is used, is it built with --enable-
multiarch. Without the *_sse* routines, we expect glibc performance to
be quite hindered on both AMD Barcelona (Greyhound core) and AMD Orochi
(Bulldozer core) machines.

[Bug 735020] [NEW] Ubuntu 11.04: Support AMD Bulldozer processor - glibc (memset)

2011-03-14 Thread harsha jagasia
Public bug reported:

Feature description:
Backport patch to pick SSE2 version of x86-64 memset on AMD Bulldozer to Ubuntu
11.04 glibc.

Partner benefit:
memset shows up significantly in the profile of major apps and benchmarks.
Since several Linux compilers like gcc, open64 etc rely on distribution glibc
for string routines, this would make a significant difference to software
performance readiness of AMD's upcoming Bulldozer processors.
We are observing a 14% to 54% improvement in cycle counts for the SSE2 version
of x86-64 memset compared to the integer version, for blocks between 144B and
8K. glibc trunk dispatches to integer version of memset on Bulldozer currently
in trunk. The patch below fixes that.

This patch also fixes the following bug in x86-64 memset - Currently for
misaligned blocks 144B, based on the misalignment, memset code jumps
into the integer code path even if the startup code explicitly chooses
SSE2 for a processor.

Development status:
Submitted to mailing list.

Upstream submission link with upstream submission status:
Submitted at http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2011-03/msg6.html

** Affects: glibc (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 563422] Re: Acer Euro and dollar keys do not work in Lucid

2010-12-02 Thread Sree Harsha Totakura

Hi Martin,

I can help you with this issue. I have an acer laptop and the euro and dollar
keys doesn't work in X. I followed the steps in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting. With the 'keymap' tool, I see
that the 'euro' key, when pressed, is producing 'scan code: 0xB3 key code:
euro'; the dollar key - 'scan code: 0xB4 key code: dollar'.
With the xev, the keys are not producing any events.

[Bug 1683974] [NEW] Cloud-init fails to mount datasource from iso disk sometimes

2017-04-18 Thread Harsha Vardhan R
Public bug reported:

cloud-init fails to mount the Datasource disk to /tmp/
sometimes. This happens only sometimes not always.

Looks like systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service is running almost at the
same time when cloud-init-local.service starts. The systemd systemd-
tmpfiles-setup-dev.service is wiping out the /tmp directory created by
the cloud-init before the mount. Looks like there needs to be ordering
dependency added on the cloud-init-local.service such that it starts
after (or before?) systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service
