[Bug 314566] Re: gdm/xdm/kdm crash if running two card setup
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 267241 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267241 Hi. I was running a three-monitor setup with two nVidia cards (7950GT and 7300GS) and it worked okay, but when I upgraded to a 8600GT and swapped out the 7300GS with the 7950GT, I started having problems. After playing around with it a bit, X actually does start but starting any X program makes it crash (and the program segfaults). xeyes and xedit still work, but anything else I've tried to start makes everything crash. I believe I'm having the same problem here. Is this perhaps a problem when combining two separate series nVidia GPUs? (ie: 7000 series with 8000 or 9000, etc) I'm using the Hardy version of Xorg right now because it works just fine, for some reason, while the Intrepid version does not. If needed, I can upgrade back for the purpose of providing log files from the crash. Also, I don't think this is a duplicate of #267241. I've been through the process of setting the busid and had it working previously with two same-series nVidia GPUs. -- gdm/xdm/kdm crash if running two card setup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314566 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've been experiencing this bug ever since I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 from 8.04. I'm getting this problem too. Just upgraded to Intrepid. Graphics driver is nVidia 177.80. I'm also running a Xinerama setup with two graphics cards and three monitors. The problem occurs about 50% of the time when I run a game (Quake 3, etc) after it quits. It's also happening with my own project that uses OIS for input from a joystick, but doesn't initialize any mouse input. It stops happening when I remove the input code from the project entirely. [Bug 372575] Re: [ubuntu jaunty] Blue Screen (w. death) on intel-video
I have a similar problem with my Mythtv frontend. This is a Compaq Deskpro Pentium III system with on-board Intel i810 video with reference number 8086:1132. When I try to watch TV with Mythtv, I just get a blue screen. Sound works correctly and it responds keypresses, so I can back out of TV mode and shut the system down normally. I really don't understand why this issue has not received more attention from other users. This bug seriously degrades the usefulness of autofs on Hardy. Maybe not many people use autofs? [Bug 234480] [NEW] autofs hangs when server unavailable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nfs-common When using autofs in Hardy to automount nfs shares, lengthy hangs occur if the target server is not available. This causes nautilus (and the desktop) to hang at login and when opening. The problem seems to originate with changed behaviour of mount.nfs. When attempting to mount a non-existent server export, Gutsy returns in about 3 seconds with the "No route to host" message, Hardy takes about 40 seconds and returns an "internal error". This results in lengthy delays if there are multiple autofs connections to be attempted.
I've tried various changes to xorg.conf and tried reverting to xserver- xorg-video-intel-2.4, with no change to the symptons. I have not figured out how to revert to an earlier version of the intel driver. The frontend works well under Hardy.
The same thing on Gutsy produces a "No route to host" message and returns in about 3 seconds.
These behaviours are shown below: -Hardy--- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /etc/*-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.04" [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a Linux client 2.6.24-16-386 #1 Thu Apr 10 12:50:06 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-cache policy nfs-common nfs-common: Installed: 1:1.1.2-2ubuntu2.1 Candidate: 1:1.1.2-2ubuntu2.1 Version table: *** 1:1.1.2-2ubuntu2.1 0 500 http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au hardy-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:1.1.2-2ubuntu2 0 500 http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au hardy/main Packages [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ time sudo mount.nfs server:/media/share /media/test -v [sudo] password for me: mount.nfs: timeout set for Sat May 24 09:51:29 2008 mount.nfs: text-based options: 'addr=192.168.0.99' mount.nfs: internal error real0m40.128s user0m0.028s sys 0m0.000s ---Gutsy--- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /etc/*-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=7.10 DISTRIB_CODENAME=gutsy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 7.10" [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a Linux client 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 07:42:25 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-cache policy nfs-common nfs-common: Installed: 1:1.1.1~git-20070709-3ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:1.1.1~git-20070709-3ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:1.1.1~git-20070709-3ubuntu1 0 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ time sudo mount.nfs server:/media/share /media/test/ -v [sudo] password for me: mount.nfs: Unable to connect to 192.168.0.99:111, errno 113 (No route to host) mount.nfs: mount to NFS server 'compaq' failed: System Error: No route to host real0m3.006s user0m0.000s sys 0m0.004s - ** Affects: nfs-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- autofs hangs when server unavailable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234480 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
