[Bug 442078] Re: Buttons in Eclipse not working correctly with GTK+ 2.18.1-1
The issue is not solved yet. Using Karmic 64bit. Of course it might be possible to quickfix by using a env-variable. At the end it harms the ubuntu-experience thou. Especially as eclipse is used quite a bit in the community it will be more then a LOW prio paper-cut. The result is simply: Eclipse does not work right in the new ubuntu version. [Bug 449260] Re: empathy needs a persistent new message indicator
+1 vote for blinking. Give this option to the user, even if it is off by default. Many of us have very busy screens. If it doesn't blink we will not notice the new chat messages. The way it is now, it is either useless or very annoying (I receive at least 10 calls per day from people asking did you get my message?, why don't you respond to chats?). Please fix it. Thanks. [Bug 464639] Re: alc660-vd no sound after upgrade kubuntu 9.10
ok, solved!!! remembering The update manager identified some updates, but blocked the avaliable new kernel (don't know why). Then i get all the avaliable updates (including new kernel) by using synaptic (i like synaptic) when i restarted the grub2 was prompting. I tried so many ways to restore the grub, i was almost about giving up. And made another big mistake= blacked the files : stage1, stage2 and grub.cfg. The solution: i installed a new kubuntu in other partition and copy and paste those files to my old partition, Then run : grub =root=setup and get works without sound. I remembered all this mistakes today when I read your response end reinstall grub2, the grub2 put the correct kernel and the sound came. thank you for help and sorry for wrong sentences. -- alc660-vd no sound after upgrade kubuntu 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464639 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I was talking with Sarvatt (https://launchpad.net/~sarvatt) on IRC, he's member of the Ubuntu-X team and told me that this is a known bug in the latest kernel release and it will be fixed on 2.6.31-4 or maybe 2.6.31-5 kernel's version. Thanks Sebastien! I'm using Gnome and i know that i can submit bugs with the crash information, but in this bug there's no .crash file in /var/crash, neither an apport window pops up. it's pretty weird. How can i proceed to submit it? Thanks again! Guido On Fri, Jul 17, 2009 at 10:25 AM, Sebastien Bacher seb...@ubuntu.comwrote: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 279909] [NEW] Using gnome-appearance-properties to switch from Normal to None desktop effect also changes from Ubuntu default sound theme to freedesktop sound theme in Intrepid Beta
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Hello folks, I'm testing Intrepid beta. I did the installation and the first package update. After the well successful installation, I turned off the desktop effects by using gnome-appearance-properties to switch from Normal to None effects, then I realized that disabling effects also changes the default Ubuntu sound theme (the awesome drums sound) to the freedesktop sound theme (default gnome theme, I presume). Steps to validate the bug: 1. Click on System - Preferences - Appearance 2. Go to Visual Effects tab 3. Select option None 4. Close the window 5. Restart X Server (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace), you will be back to GDM 6. Proceed with the login as usual, you will hear a different welcome sound (not the drums sound). And to turn back the Ubuntu sound theme, do it: 1. Click on System - Preferences - Appearance 2. Go to Visual Effects tab 3. Select option Normal effect 4. Close the window 5. Restart X Server (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace), you will be back to GDM 6. Proceed with the login as usual and the drums sound from Ubuntu default theme will be back. don't know if unconfirmed is the best status to mark the bug / backport request, because the actual kdesvn version totaly breaks konqueror in edgy. [Bug 14692] Re: hal detects written DVD as empty
Hi, I'm brazilian, so sorry for my bad english ; ) i'm using linux for a while and since the last month i'm running Ubuntu. First was Dapper and then upgrade to Edgy Eft. Everything was just fine until a couple of days ago. I tried to backup my wedding dvd (sony dvd-r made in adobe encore with open session) and the system tried to mount it without success and reconigzed it as a blank disc. But the worst thing is that after that even windows and my standalone player can read my dvd. It's damaged for good! I repeat: my dvd-r became garbage after i tried to simply mount it under Ubuntu!!! For my luck, there is a copy from my dvd i made with windows xp before this awful episode...thanks god! I can tell if this bug is present in Dapper because i never had the chance to backup an open session dvd-r with Ubuntu before the related attempt here. I'd never believe such thing is possible and i think most of you too. To me this kind of bug should be labled as critical. Anyone had face something like what happened to me?
