As a short term fix for the Dell-mini, I adapted the wizard interface to fit to the screen. I basically tuned the nm-vpnc-dialog.glade. It now fits perfectly and it is not significantly different than the original. I experience the very same problems under (k)ubuntu 8.10. The fglrx driver comming with ubuntu is works, but not perfect (e.g. the performance is mediocre). When I install newer version of the driver from the ati website (8.12 or 9.1) I experience a crash of the X server and a blank screen on startup. I experience the same problem on a freshly installed openSUSE 11.1. well, unfortunately I don't even have the old kernel. I was using wireless and after deciding that the new kernel seems stable I removed the old one. then I went home, connected to my wired network and vola nothing. I can't get it to see my router or get any IP from eth0. I searched around and tried all the different dhclient commands, starting/stopping interfaces ... nothing...I'm lucky my neighbour has an unsecure wireless lan :) or I could not use the machine. The same happens at work where we have Cisco routers with DHCP, my netbook worked without problems there before, so we can assume that it's not something the router does but rather the network manager doesn't do or know. [Bug 325215] [NEW] gnome-volume-control only goes to 100%
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media Better integration is needed between gnome-volume-control and pulseaudio re volume control. This is probably a wishlist item. Pulseaudio allows you to adjust volume between 0 and 480%. This is fantastic, especially for computers with low inputs and outputs like mine. But the volume sliders in gnome-volume-control only go to 100%. So: a) When you adjust the pulseaudio slider, the corresponding gnome- volume-control slider moves, but stops at 100% and doesn't display the actual value. b) If you try to adjust the gnome-volume-control-slider, it immediately resets the pulseaudio volume slider back to 100%. The attached image illustrates this. The pulseaudio volume controls are obtained by running PulseAudioManager and then selecting Manager from its notification panel control and then double-clicking on the appropriate device in the Devices tab. In Jaunty, the gnome-volume- control is in the notification panel as well. The gnome volume control applet in the notification panel does know that the volume is over 100% (its pop-up hint says, for instance Output: 127% 29.77 db, but its slider also is limited to 100% and if you use this slider to adjust the volume, it resets it to 100%. What I think should happen is that the gnome-volume-control sliders shouldn't be limited to 100%, and if pulseaudio directs that the volume has gone above 100%, gnome-volume-control's sliders should reflect this correctly. I have similar issue with Firefox 3.05, and 3.1 beta on an OpenGL plugin in Mac OS-X. Webkit npapi plugin. The problem seem to be that NPP_Destroy only gets called half the time. Other times firefox just stops sending events to my plugin though the instance is still loaded in the browser. This does not happen in Safari. Restarting the firefox browser is the only thing that works. May be because the plugin is object tag is defined through javascript. May also be because the plugin first has css style none and then block.
