Man, it's very bad idea to annoy developers of free software =)
The bug really hard to fix.
Only Midori and Internet Explorer don't have this bug, but Midori is alpha, and
IE is IE. Opera try to fix it too, but opera's solution is too buggy.

[Bug 774746] Re: metallic sound when changing volume

2011-06-16 Thread zzarko
Yes, only on surround (5.1). I see that bug 445849 is declared invalid.
Should I make this one its duplicate? I'm having issues on 32-bit fully
updated Natty. I didn't tried ppa:diwic/ppa, as one user said that he
lost 5.1 audio (it plays only 2.1). I can try that today and send the
results.

[Bug 763247] Re: Overlay ScrollBar not easily findable in a large document

2011-06-16 Thread Dave-B
I agree with OP and comment #1.

Another possibility is, when the cursor approaches the scrollbar edge,
to show a traditional scrollbar with the scrolling thumb in a
(semitransparent?) scroll channel. Clicking in the channel would page
up/down the document, per traditional scrollbars.

[Bug 798123] [NEW] Sync svgalib 1:1.4.3-31 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Please sync svgalib 1:1.4.3-31 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

Now Debian package uses dh_fixperms and exclude files, so it will not fail if
these files does not exist and Ubuntu change inst necessary. The Debian
package builds well in Oneici pbuilder chroot.

Regards,

Changelog entries since current oneiric version 1:1.4.3-30ubuntu1:

svgalib (1:1.4.3-31) unstable; urgency=low

  * Fix upstream installation of setuid programs and exclude them from
dh_fixperms instead of restoring the permissions afterwards. This fixes
a build failure when the utilities are not built. (Closes: #623747)
  * Now using Standards-Version 3.9.2 (no changes needed).

[Bug 798095] Re: upowerd grabs my FTDI USB serial port adapter

2011-06-16 Thread Svein Seldal
This bug is due to a udev rule in /lib/udev/rules.d/95-upower-wup.rules.

This udev rule erroneously assumes that USB VID:PID 0403:6001 is
assigned to Watts Up? Pro from Watts Up Inc. The VID:PID is rather
assiged to a FT232 USB Serial adapter chip from FTDI Inc. The FT232 is a
generic electronic part which is default configured with the said VID
and PID. This part is used in a lot of development boards and different
kind of products. It cannot be assumed that this VID and PID belongs to
the Watts Up Pro product.

Blurry: On a side note, perhaps grab those commands that prevent Swing
using OpenGL, and stick them into your default java settings. That
should temporarily solve the crashing on your machine.

[Bug 747343] Re: [launcher] does not autohide

2011-06-16 Thread psypher
I too had the autohide problem which was fixed with gconftool --set
--type int /desktop/unity-2d/launcher/hide_mode 2

My session is also falling back to unity-2d when choosing Ubuntu from
the login screen, confirm in the process list.

I am running on a ATI HD 4200 which according to:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsAti

Lucid, Maverick and Natty all give you 3d out of the box with good
compiz and Unity (in Natty) with the default open source driver.

[Bug 798124] [NEW] g-c-c should suggest Network Time option only when ntp is installed

2011-06-16 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

In GNOME Control Center, under Date and Time panel, the Network Time

[Bug 797926] Re: software center duplicate reviews upon voting on review

2011-06-16 Thread Aaron Peachey
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 794060 ***

Hi, thanks for your bug report.
I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug # 794060, which has a fix in the next
update of software centre (4.0.4).
Unfortunately I've just realised that my fix doesn't quite work so this one is
likely to be fixed (properly) in a later version.

[Bug 798132] [NEW] No icons in Applications Lens

2011-06-16 Thread Neil Padgett
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

The first time I launch the Applications Lens after the computer boots,
there are no icons displayed on the overlay. There is just a blank,
black overlay with the Search Applications box at the top. If start
to enter text in the search box, application icons then begin to appear.

This has only started happening over the last few days, but I have no
idea why.

[Bug 796465] Crash report cannot be processed

2011-06-16 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate an useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

[Bug 794970] Re: Unity task launcher on LHS not loading when I log in

2011-06-16 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Seems like Unity is crashing. Could you log into Unity, and when you get
a blank desktop, press Ctrl+Alt+F2, login there on the text console, and
type cp .xsession-errors xsession-errors-for-bug , then type
sudo service gdm restart and login to Classic Desktop, and then
attach the xsession-errors-for-bug file found in your home directory, to
this bug? Thanks!

[Bug 791076] Re: Emacs: choosing normal monospace font in Emacs but gives bold-italic

2011-06-16 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
Hmm it looks like I missed a detail there: it seems the switch from
'Ubuntu Beta Mono 21' to 'UbuntuBeta Mono' also means I went from 79 to
74 lines on a 24 display (aka 1920x1200, taking into account that I
leave some empty space at the bottom of the screen).

Is this caused by a change in the font itself or a spacing issue between
lines (which may be not come directly from the font) ?

[Bug 791076] Re: Emacs: choosing normal monospace font in Emacs but gives bold-italic

2011-06-16 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
Bah, more info:

86 lines with -adobe-courier-medium-r-*-*-12-*-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1
79 lines with -unknown-Ubuntu Beta Mono
21-normal-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-0-iso10646-1
74 lines with -unknown-UbuntuBeta Mono-normal-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-0-iso10646-1

I hope there is a way to invert the trend ;)

[Bug 794501] Re: Banshee breaks the desktop

2011-06-16 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Can you reproduce this bug in a Classic Desktop session with Compiz
running? If yes, then (in Classic desktop) try switching off effects.
Can you reproduce it then?

This seems more like a Compiz issue than a Unity issue.

[Bug 798124] Re: g-c-c should suggest Network Time option only when ntp is installed

2011-06-16 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thanks for your report.

ntpdate being installed by default (dependency of ubuntu-minimal) it is
not an issue, and time can always be synced from network (if there's an
access to a time server of course)

This doesn't appear to be an issue or do you mean something else ?

[Bug 793466] Re: unity does not work anymore !

2011-06-16 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Probably your GPU doesn't support the level of hardware acceleration
required by Unity. But to confirm that, we'd need more debugging
information from your system. Could you kindly run apport-collect
793466 in a terminal so that the appropriate debugging info gets
attached to this report? Currently it contains info related to Firefox
which we don't need.

2011-06-16 Thread Pablo Llopis
I can confirm this happening on my 11.04 installation. An attempt to
install swift-account package resulted in this error with ppa:swift-
core/ppa as source (fresh download from today).
