[Bug 1777345] Re: Sound card not working in Ubuntu new kernel version except reinstall some packages

2018-08-05 Thread Lucky Jay
Tonight I reinstalled the system with the Ubuntu 18.04, and the sound card
begins work as good as it did before.
So, if you couldn't fix it by yourself, just reinstall the system or upgrade to
the ubuntu 18.04(except the guys which has been using the ubuntu 18.04).

2018-07-29 Thread Lucky Jay
Reply Joseph Salisbury:

I am very sorry that the reply is late.

This is my first-time use launchpad to report bugs.

If I boot back into the kernel prior to 4.4.0-127 this issues still
existed.

Even now, my sound card still not working good as it did before.

[Bug 1777345] [NEW] Sound card not working in Ubuntu new kernel version except reinstall some packages

2018-06-17 Thread Lucky Jay
Public bug reported:

I have some problem in Ubuntu sound card since I upgraded the latest
4.4.0-128-generic or 4.4.0-127-generic version of the Ubuntu linux
kernel.

while I start the computer, sound card is unable to work(there is
nothing at sound setting output).

I try to restart alsa, but:

sudo alsa force-reload
[sudo] password for jay:
Unloading ALSA sound driver modules: snd-hda-codec-hdmi snd-hda-codec-realtek
snd-hda-codec-generic snd-hda-intel snd-hda-codec snd-hda-core snd-hwdep
snd-pcm snd-seq-midi snd-seq-midi-event snd-rawmidi snd-seq snd-seq-device
snd-timer (failed: modules still loaded: snd-hda-codec-hdmi
snd-hda-codec-realtek snd-hda-codec-generic snd-hda-intel snd-hda-codec
snd-hda-core snd-hwdep snd-pcm snd-timer).
Loading ALSA sound driver modules: snd-hda-codec-hdmi snd-hda-codec-realtek
snd-hda-codec-generic snd-hda-intel snd-hda-codec snd-hda-core snd-hwdep
snd-pcm snd-seq-midi snd-seq-midi-event snd-rawmidi snd-seq snd-seq-device
snd-timer.

So I try to reinstall the driver modules in Ubuntu like this:

sudo apt-get -y --reinstall install linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-
utils lightdm ubuntu-desktop linux-image-`uname -r` libasound2

And killall the process

sudo killall pulseaudio

The sound card began normal work now.

Also I founded a lot of error log in /var/log/kern.log like this:

Jun 16 14:47:57 home kernel: [ 3494.077340] pcieport :00:1c.0: AER:

Public bug reported:

Each time i try the installer does the same thing, telling me i have
issues with my CD/DVD drive when i don't. I followed a guide online that
told me to use the memtest86+ utitlity to test my memory which i did and
after 6 hours plus the memory turned out just fine yet i can't get it to
install.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have verified the ISO and it matched the
MD5sum and am sure it's not the installation media becuase i checked the
disk for defect and nothing was wrong with it.

[Bug 1450353] Re: errno[5] input/output error

2015-04-30 Thread Orobo Lucky
Have tried two different usb sticks, two different versions of ubuntu
14.04 and 14.10 and i have even tried removing both my rams and using it
one at a time (although i used memtest86+ to test my memory which turns
out fine) but it still gives that error. Funny enough, i have had
ubuntu 14.04 installed before, which i upgraded to 14.10 and then to
15.04 and then i had to go back to 14.10 by deleting ubuntu partition.
Now i can't get any of them installed

[Bug 1187500] Re: [Saucy] Unity is slow on Intel graphics

Is it available to users now ?
If yes how can we get our hand on it ?
I did my upgrade today and I'm still stuck with a lense that takes about 5-6
seconds to load and alt+tab cycles that take 4-5 seconds to start.

I use lightning and an android device that accesses the same calendar
and I can confirm that the double entries appear in the android device
when I hit save and close; the problem seems to be gone when I hit save
first and then manually close as someone previously had suggested.

[Bug 781402] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up'

2011-06-04 Thread Lucky
I think this is a video card problem. Using nVidia geForce 8400 GS.

After suspending the computer and turning it on, the computer was
working (hard drive noises and num lock led in the keyboard was on but
the screen refused to response, just black screen).

No suggested keyboard combination turned the screen on.

Tried the Compiz solution suggested above and it worked sometimes.

Today I finally tried using another driver version

Selected System-Admin-Additional drivers- selected the 173 version
(not the recommended version) and it seems that the problem was solved.

You can try using other drivers for you specific video card.

*By the way, had the same problem with this video card also in WinXP
(solved it in the same manner), so I don't think it's an Ubuntu problem.

[Bug 578910] Re: Brasero burning ISO dvd-rw fail please eject manually

2010-05-12 Thread Lucky LIX
I appear to have the same problem.
When running Brasero to burn a DVD, I get the eject error as described by
walterav and even though Brasero says burning has completed 100% the DVD is not
readable, it doesn't even show up at all when inserted (on the same machine,
not tested on others).

OS: Ubuntu 10.04 64bit
Brasero version: 2.30.0-0ubuntu1
DVD writer: LG GH22NS50
DVD's tested: Medio DVD-RW, Tevion DVD-R

[Bug 564586] Re: brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in egg_tree_multi_drag_source_row_draggable()

2010-04-21 Thread Lucky Luke
Yes:

1. Open up brasero
2. Start an audio project
3. Click add
4. I click on the Music folder (a favorite folder on the left of the dialog)
5. The music folder appears
6. When I try to open any of the sub folders, it crashes.

The strange thing: It does happen with all folders inside the Music
folder, but not with all folders in general.

For example: I can't even open up the Pictures folder at all, while my
folder with all programming projects works perfectly...

[Bug 455774] [NEW] Moovida starts and is wrongly positioned, only parts of the interface are drawn

2009-10-19 Thread lucky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: moovida

On startup, the interface is corrupted as seen on the first screenshot

After pressing esc, the windowed mode is also corrupted since it is placed at

After re-pressing esc several times it is finally placed correctly.

[Bug 448651] Re: Cannot lock screen when auto login is enable

2009-10-12 Thread lucky
As it is written in my first post, it is always reproducible by just selecting
auto-login in the appropriate menu.
Then the lock screen option in the menu on the top-right corner of the screen
is greyed.
Changing the option in the login screen menu to auo-login, but allow x seconds
for other users to connect re-enable the lock screen option.

As I said in my first post this is always reproducible.

[Bug 448651] [NEW] Cannot lock screen when auto login is enable

2009-10-11 Thread lucky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I'm not sure whether gdm is the culprit, but it is really likely.

If I enable auto login through the system-administration-login screen or by
enabling it at installation time, I cannot lock my screen.
Even though those features are related, there should not be any dependencies
between them.

It is required to be able to lock a screen for instance during a break,
even though we auto-login.

The bug is reproducible any time by just ticking-unticking the auto
login feature in the appropriate menu.

At the moment the workaround is to enable a 1 second delay before auto-login to
allow other users to login in gdm.
Doing so enables the lock screen option.

[Bug 436126] [NEW] Youtube doesn't work on ubuntu 64 bits, prerelease 64 bits version works

2009-09-24 Thread lucky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

First things first :
I know that flash isn't free software and Ubuntu's devs can't fix it.

Description :
On karmic koala 64 bits with 10.0.32.18ubuntu1, youtube plays well but the
mouse events won't have any effect.
For instance pausing, resuming or full screen options do not work.
This can happen on several other websites, I don't know what are differences
between the flash apps that will cause this problem.

I don't know if other users can report the same issue, but if some do
please consider replacing the flashplugin-nonfree 32 bits version and
its dependencies with the prerelease 64 bits package available at

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/libflashplayer-10.0.32.18.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz

To make flash available for firefox, it is only required to extract the library
in ~/.mozilla/plugins/.
This seems to fix the problem regarding youtube and dailymotion.

Best Regards,

Lucas

[Bug 318327] Re: cannot control backlight on lenovo t400 with KDE 4

2009-02-11 Thread lucky
Thanks for replying,
It seems to be a configuration problem, what I actually don't understand, is
why when I choose a gnome session with GDM I get the back-light controls,
whereas I don't when I choose a KDE session.
I am normally using the Intel graphic adapter.

As I said in my first, I still can use acpitool -l to change the
backlight within command line.

And I experience the same problem from an Intrepid ubuntu (gnome) with
Kde 4.2 packages installed from the ppa and from a fresh install of
Kubuntu jaunty on a fresh partition.

I will run dmesg once again and see what's going wrong.
Is there a way to know whether a key stroke triggers the event associated with
or not?

[Bug 318327] [NEW] cannot control backlight on lenovo t400 with KDE 4

2009-01-17 Thread lucky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

A strange bug occurs while I'am running KDE 4.2 packages on Jaunty up to date
and on Intrepid as well with the backported packages.
I started to use Intrepid with Gnome on my Lenovo t400 with Intrepid and the
backlight was ok, even if it had some strange way to repond to the key events,
at least I could manage it, and in Intrepid it is solved by just using a 2.6.28
kernel under Gnome.
But with KDE 4.2, there is no way for me to even change in any way the
backlight setting, here is an extract of my dmesg , which pretty much says it
should be able to change the backlight (proof is that gnome is able):

[Bug 273220] Re: Pidgin icon matches the user-switcher-applet too much

2008-11-15 Thread Lucky LIX
I think minimizing to the notification area is much better for programs you run
all the time (fe IM, e-mail, music) because it makes them easily accessible
from any desktop (if you use more than one) and the program is completely out
of your way, which is much nicer than having it minimized on one (or all) of
the desktops. This way you get to the program in one click on a small icon (if
possible showing some extra information, like new mail, paused, new
message or whatever) from any desktop and it doesn't clutter the taskbar...
It's also nice to have only one icon to think about for any of these programs,
when it has anything to do with Pidgin, I look at the Pidgin icon, when it has
anything to do with the music player, ... The Pidgin icon fe shows both my
status and a notification whenever I receive a new message.
Imo it would be a step back to avoid this behaviour.
If it is really needed to follow Gnome's guidelines strictly, maybe there
should be made a new 'area' just for such programs to *fix* the current
situation? (which I personally find unneeded, although I do believe guidelines
are made to be followed)

This message repeats a couple of times while copying data to or from the
external drive, once for every time the copying halts a few seconds.

[Bug 134578] Re: Open source ati driver freeze with compiz

2007-08-29 Thread lucky
After a test of compiz on an nvidia, it happens the same thing, so it
seems that the ati driver is not to blame fot it.

[Bug 134578] Open source ati driver freeze with compiz

2007-08-24 Thread lucky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

The system hangs completly after a while if the compiz is enabled.
Steps to reproduce :
On my thinkpad t43p with ati firegl 5200 :
Install ubuntu which has compiz enabled by default.
Just work, switch between windows etc.. It will eventually freeze just wait it
happens.
I can't be sure that's the trigger, but it happens often on opening a menu,
start menu right-click etc
The version of the driver is 6.7.191 and it happens also with the 6.6.19x
series.

[Fwd: Re: Duplicates.]

2007-04-24 Thread Lucky Ndala

Merci d'avance.
Bonjour,

$ sudo gedt /etc/apt/sources.list
Puis tu effaces les doublons. Mais ça me paraît bien curieux cette
histoire de doublons. Voir ici les dépôts principaux
pour feisty
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/depots/feisty#depots_principaux
pour edgy
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/depots/edgy#depots_principaux
pour dapper
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/depots/dapper#depots_principaux
Vérifie si ta liste est bien à jour. Et commente les sources.
exemple:
# deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main restricted
J'espère pouvoir t'aider

[Bug 42555] Re: syslog-ng causes ubuntu-minimal to be removed.

2007-01-03 Thread Lucky
I totally agree with this, and IMHO this thing should receive more
attention to be solved as soon as possible. syslogd is old and crappy, I
would not use it on any 'production' system. Actually I would make
syslog-ng the default, but that's another story.

I hope that ubuntu-minimal be fixed to happily coexist with syslog-ng.

[Bug 51379] Re: dapper 'server' release fails on parallels virtualisation, 'desktop' release is fine

2006-10-06 Thread Lucky
I'm just confirming that it freeze. Some details I can provide:
- Problem appears on an old version of parallels (it was still named Parallels
Workstation) and on current Parallels Desktop build 1922 RC2 without any
difference. Host o.s. is OSX Tiger on a mac mini coreduo.
- Kernel is 2.6.15-23-server as installed by dapper server i386 cd
- removing initrd from grub doesn't change anything, so it should not be
something related to loading/uncompressing/using the initrd.
- Tried 64 - 1024Mb of ram with various intermediate steps (read people
reporting problems with dapper desktop and lots of ram)
- tried disabling everything I could in parallels (usb, floppy, cd) and various
settings of vm acceleration (with and without Intel VT-x, off to high
acceleration)
- tried vm settings for linux-2.4, linux-2.6, generic linux, and even other
OSes, nothing changes.
- so the problem seems to happen between the kernel real mode loader and the
'real' kernel starting in protected mode...

I'll also install a gentoo system (no problems so far) to do some work.
I'll use that to compile a kernel as similar as possible to ubuntu
server to see if I can reproduce the problem.
