This wiki page might be useful. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported Regards, Steve Hi James, The link I provided will tell you how to find out. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported The quickest way involves using a cli command, lspci. E.g. :~$ lspci | grep Network 01:0a.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03) If you see something like the above then you have a Broadcom card and need to download some firmware to get it working. So if you're on Ubuntu 7.10, then you should be able to install it in the System - Administration - Restricted Drivers Manager, with a wired connection. There is a wiki page about this at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx Regards, Steve -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/

Steve, Sadly I have no idea what the chipset is, I would presume it is Dell's? I have made no changes to it. How do I find out? I changed the key on his router (he was using WPA with a pre-shared key) and it worked fine after it was changed. I'm not sure if there is a minimum length it should be. I think my dad's one was set to 8 characters and it worked. Rob -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
