[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 446674] Re: [M7 LW] no more stellarium or googleearth with mesa 7.6 with Radeon Mobility 7500 1002:4c57

2009-12-30 Thread mistr
Similar problem with blender 3D (2.49 and 2.50 alpha):

*WARN_ONCE*
File radeon_tcl.c function radeon_run_tcl_render line 499
Rendering was 138 commands larger than predicted size. We might overflow
command buffer.
***
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See
dmesg for more info.

No further info in dmesg.

This message occurs (only?) while trying to load a particular large (20
MB) and I presume quite complicated blend file:

http://blenderguru.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/log-cabin-scene1.blend

from

http://www.blenderguru.com/getting-your-work-digitally-printed/

Smaller scenes seems uneffected.

Since bug 446632 I'm running the drivers from xorg-edgers.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 444139] Re: (Needs KMS) Background and full screen apps don't show up when Normal Visual Effects on (ATI RV100/RV200 chipset)

2009-12-30 Thread smolyak
I have ATI Radeon 9200 64MB card. I have all the problems which have
been meant earlier. I fixed this problem with configured xorg.conf but I
can't say that it is even Interpid perfomance levels. On Interpid it was
better with open-source drivers. I can't play 2D games (Battle Tanks for
example, very slow indeed). Maybe another solution?

P.S. With KMS turned on, glxgears give less FPS then just xorg.conf
configuration
Sorry for my English

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 500117] Re: kde bad screen resolution after login

2009-12-30 Thread Romain1101
Well,

I figured out how to fix that :

there was a kdedisplayrc config file in my .kde folder (like
.kde/share/app/config/)
I simply removed it, relogged and then the resolution was the same that the
login screen one,
and the right one by the way.

Then, I checked and the file didn't event appear again.

In my case, It was eventually OK !

Status in AMD fglrx video driver: New
Status in KDE Base Workspace: New
Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
I don't know what I did but from now on I can't succeed to have the right
screen resolution when my system starts.
Exactly, It seems resolution is right by the login step, then my profile is
loaded and resolution becomes 640x480 though I forced my xorg.conf by putting
only Modes 1280x800 in the Screen Section.

I have to shell xrandr --output default --mode 1280x800 so as to get
the right one.

My problem must be linked to something wrong with my fglrx drivers, because now
though aticonfig runs fine, I can't launch amdcccle (catalyst center) nor
fglrxinfo, both return :
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 17
Current serial number in output stream: 17

Then If I go in kubuntu monitor settings and then set the right
resolution, It changes completely my xorg.conf and restarting the system
leads to a login screen with the wrong resolution as well as a wrong
resolution getting to the desktop.

My fglrx drivers comes from ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run

Anyway, here are all the information about my system:

** Description changed:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 501598] Re: [lucid] kernel mode setting kms broken, no gdm, with intel on eeepc 1000h

2009-12-30 Thread aka Gour gi
i used the xorg-edgers ppa and the problem is solved.
i used the apport-collect to provide the needed files in case anyone wants to
find the cause of the bug in the original packages in lucid.
i'm staying with the xorg-edgers stuff for now :P
should my report marked as fix commited ?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 501607] [NEW] display limited to 800 X 600 - won't fill screen

2009-12-30 Thread steve jerard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

My 2655XDVD/6.0 Toshiba laptop will not display beyond 800 X 600. A 1 -
2 inch blank screen borders the display and will not stretch to fill the
screen.

Here is a link to the specification page from Toshiba:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-
bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SBos=category=moid=1073769702rpn=PS265UmodelFilter=2655XDVDselCategory=3selFamily=1073768663

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and haven't installed any other packages except
the ones that came with the original distribution.

Please send me instructions on how to resolve this issue.

Thanks,

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 500373] Re: Wacom Intuos 3 not recognized

2009-12-30 Thread silentcry
I cannot really give much additional information, because I have no idea
what could cause this problem.

1. I just plugged my wacom tablet into my computer :)
2.+3. Back in Jaunty and previous Ubuntu releases I was able to configure the
tablet via the command xsetwacom. But the command xsetwacom list which should
display known devices and parameters returns no output. Meaning that I cannot
configure my wacom tablet.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 501626] [NEW] Sync xserver-xorg-video-geode 2.11.6-3 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-12-30 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-geode

The Ubuntu delta can be dropped because it was just an upload to force a
rebuild against the current X server core.

xserver-xorg-video-geode (2.11.6-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Revised all package descriptions in debian/control.

xserver-xorg-video-geode (2.11.6-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Removed Build-Depends on obsolete x11proto-xf86misc-dev (Closes:
#559703).

NOTE: upstream really could use some help in maintaining this
driver!

xserver-xorg-video-geode (2.11.6-1ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * Build against xserver 1.7.

xserver-xorg-video-geode (2.11.6-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
Revert LX validate display modes because it breaks detection of
arbitrary non-VESA resolutions such as with the OLPC (LP: #433228).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 433075] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV on ATI hybrid graphics laptop with fglrx enabled

2009-12-30 Thread rmartinez
I installed Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 on my ASUSM51Ta which has this graphcis
configuration:
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon
HD 3200 Graphics]

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon
HD 3650

I followed this procedure:

(00) installed Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 and updated everything
(01) downloaded libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_amd64.deb from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/amd64/libstdc++5/download and installed it.
(02) in terminal:
$ sudo apt-get install build-essential cdbs fakeroot dh-make debhelper debconf
dkms libQtGui4
(03) in terminal:
$ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
(04) downloaded ati-driver-installer-9-12-x86.x86_64.run and in terminal:
$ cd Downloads
$ sh ati-driver-installer-9-12-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/karmic
(05) in terminal:
$ sudo dpkg -i xorg-driver-fglrx_*.deb fglrx-kernel-source_*.deb
fglrx-amdcccle_*.deb
(06) in terminal:
$ sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and copy:
- Section Device
- Identifier SOME IDENTIFIER
- Driver fglrx
- EndSection
and save the file
(07) in terminal:
$ sudo aticonfig --initial -f
$ sudo aticonfig --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf --tls=1
(08) reboot

When the system reinitialized it crashed.

If I change BusID PCI:1:5:0 in the xorg.conf file for BusID
PCI:2:0:0 it also crashes.

Is there a way to disable switchable-graphics?? In the BIOS there is no
option... Thanks a lot

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24825 .

This does not mean that there is necessarily something wrong with that
commit. It may be that this commit enables a previously unused feature
in the driver and that this feature is buggy. In any case, it gives
upstream a very clear indication about where the problem is.

What is the best solution? I don't need visual effects. I just need
compositing, and fast scrolling in Firefox.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 494166] Re: [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5

2009-12-30 Thread Curtis Lee Bolin
yes, you are correct. I just tried to run $ sudo apt-get install
nvidia-glx-185 and it wanted to remove xserver-xorg, meaning it still
doesn't work. I have all ati at home, but my work computer has nvidia.
I added the PPA at
https://edge.launchpad.net/~sevenmachines/+archive/nvidia and install
nvidia-graphics-drivers-195 and it works great for me. I didn't test
190.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I had the screensaver running, when I returned I experienced these
problems:

* Bottom panel not functioning, this includes not being able to switch
desktops on it, and not being able to select running programs from it.

* When launching a new application (such as firefox) its menu bar seems
to be being integrated into the top panel.

* When I use System Administration WIndow prefs (I think it's that)
I am told that there is no window manager running.

2009-12-30 Thread Ehalls
Hi there, I have the same problem, my computer is a GIGABYTE 912x tablet
pc

The driver in Synaptic didn't allow calibration. But the new 9.10 deb at
PenMount site : http://www.penmount.com.tw/down_2_1.php does have
calibration and works perfectly. However, if I rotate the screen when in
tablet mode it doesn't work.

Best regards

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 500958] [NEW] After Karmic kernel updates, the panels are unresponsive.

2009-12-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Last week, after receiving a kernel update (2.6.31-16-generic-pae), the
panels became unresponsive. After doing a terminal un-install of gdm,
panels, and desktop and re-installing them a fix was not acquired. Upon
restarting the computer in the A.M., the panels returned in gnome and
were responsive as always.

This afternoon, I received a new kernel update to 2.6.31-17-generic-
pae, and seemingly, everything was working with the panels and
eventually I shut down. Upon restarting the computer, and gnome opening,
the panels were white initially, with no icons and eventually after 10
to 20 minutes the icons appeared, but remained unresponsive; (just as in
the previous kernel update). I tried the un-installing and re-installing
as before to no avail.

In both instances I had to use Ctrl Alt Delete and received
notifications panel is unresponsive and did I want to continue with
the dirty shut down; as the panels were still running.

My installation of Karmic was via live CD ~ Oct 30, and I have had no
other noticeable problems.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 494166] Re: [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5

2009-12-30 Thread Brandon Snider
It looks like the driver binaries in the Lucid archive were copied over from
the Karmic archive, where they were built against Karmic's xserver packages,
and they have not been rebuilt against Lucid's xserver packages. So that's
why the nvidia blob is providing the older xserver-xorg-video virtual
package.

curtlee2...@gmail.comwrote:

yes, you are correct. I just tried to run $ sudo apt-get install
nvidia-glx-185 and it wanted to remove xserver-xorg, meaning it still
doesn't work. I have all ati at home, but my work computer has nvidia.
 I added the PPA at
 https://edge.launchpad.net/~sevenmachines/+archive/nvidia and install
nvidia-graphics-drivers-195 and it works great for me. I didn't test
 190.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 440544] Re: screen corruption with Radeon 4770

2009-12-30 Thread Phil Hughes
Following ceg's link to Phoronix, I can confirm that setting Option
EXANoDownloadFromScreen true in Section Device of xorg.conf fixes
/ works round this problem.

Ceg - you need an xorg.conf with this line in it. However you may not
have an existing xorg.conf - the following xorg.conf worked for me. If
you need more help than this, you should probably ask in the forums.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 501689] [NEW] nVidia hangs on starting a second X instance at system boot

2009-12-30 Thread Ben Collins
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-185

This only occurs with nvidia proprietary driver, and only on cold boot.
Doing a warm boot, or using a different video card does not reproduce
the problem. In addition, the 195 driver does not fix this problem
either.

Basically in startup scripts, a second Xorg instance is started (in
addition to the normal gdm instance) on :5/vt11. The display will hang
(strace shows on select()) until switching the console to vt11.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 501296] [NEW] Computer booted into no X display with an acpi error

2009-12-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
- About Ubuntu.

I am using Karmic Koola 9.10

 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.

This is an immediate crash when the Xserver was attempted to be started. I
asked the boot safe crash dialog (one that asks if I would like to start x in
safe mode) to package a tar of all the related files see attachments.

 3) What you expected to happen

To boot my computer into the kde desktop.

 4) What happened instead

My computer booted into a 4 choice questionnaire. Asking if I
like to start in safe low graphics mode, view the error output, go
back into the terminal or save crash report log data which I selected
for.

The computer resumed back to boot the graphic desktop after I
exited the questionnaire.
