[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781983] Re: Screen becomes corrupted under normal usage
I've noticed this also on my system (Ubuntu Natty, running Ubuntu Classic no effects without Compiz). I have a Dell 1420 laptop with an Intel video 'card' (Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller according to Hardinfo). I notice it in the classic Gnome panels a lot, where parts of the panels became darkened. I have attached some screenshots showing different instances of it happening (the corruption is the dark parts; the missing white parts are editing on my part). ** Attachment added: Screenshot-top-panel-corruption.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/781983/+attachment/2130473/+files/Screenshot-top-panel-corruption.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781983 Title: Screen becomes corrupted under normal usage ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 782143] Re: touch pad mouse is standard locked right after login
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu ** Description changed: On a MBP 6,2, Ubuntu 11.04 the touchpad works at the login screen, but after logging in, it is disabled. Have to use an external mouse to open pointing devices and click twice on the disable touchpad to get the touchpad going again. That is: Please note that the GUI of pointing devices shows that touchpad is NOT disabled when it IS disabled. As a work-around I tried to manipulate the 'disabled' mode with 'synclient', but it is somehow overruled by 'pointing devices'. Any idea how I can access 'pointing devices' without installing an external mouse? Via 'Alt-F2' I cannot find 'pointing devices'. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 760632] Re: Resizing Konsole crashes the whole system
Also reproducible on Lubuntu 11.04 in lxterm. Switching back and forth between a TTY (which will be just a black screen) and X coated with a little patience sugar will bring back interaction (just did it while writing this). Don't know if this is due to lxdm being more stable than gdm and kdm, or just my luck, but that's how it works in LXDE :) Doesn't seem to happen with other windows, though (Chromium or File Manager, although the latter may a resize corner that won't function). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781143] Re: two finger scroll event should end when fingers are lifted from touchpad
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 natty running-unity ubuntu ** Description changed: For awhile now (including in Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04), I've experienced an issue with scroll events initiated on my Touchpad. Steps to reproduce are: 1) Open Firefox 2) Start a vertical scroll event on Touchpad (two- finger scroll, in my case) 3) Remove fingers from Touchpad 4) Quickly hit ctrl The results are that Firefox will start zooming in or zooming out the page. I also experience this if I start a scroll event and quickly switch to a different workspace -- where my Terminal will start scrolling up or down. I would expect that the scroll event would die when I remove my fingers from the Touchpad, and probably when a meta key gets hit, too. I'm on a Thinkpad W510 on Ubuntu 11.04 using Unity. Here's all the info I can find on my Touchpad: [ 10.808053] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 7.2, id: 0x1c0b1, caps: 0xd047b3/0xb4/0xa [ 10.863551] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input7 I do have the synaptics-dkms package installed (version 1.1.0) + --- + .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' + .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: + .proc.driver.nvidia.version: + NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 270.41.06 Mon Apr 18 14:53:56 PDT 2011 + GCC version: gcc version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu4) + Architecture: amd64 + CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, place, staticswitcher, resize, gnomecompat, vpswitch, snap, imgpng, session, mousepoll, move, grid, regex, wall, unitymtgrabhandles, animation, workarounds, fade, expo, scale, unityshell] + CompositorRunning: compiz + DistUpgraded: Log time: 2011-04-12 08:57:54.574025 + DistroCodename: natty + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 + DistroVariant: ubuntu + DkmsStatus: + synaptics, 1.1.0, 2.6.35-28-generic, x86_64: installed + nvidia-current, 270.41.06, 2.6.38-8-generic, x86_64: installed + GraphicsCard: + nVidia Corporation GT216 [Quadro FX 880M] [10de:0a3c] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) +Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:2145] + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Release amd64 (20101007) + MachineType: LENOVO 4318CTO + NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia + Package: xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3 + PackageArchitecture: amd64 + ProcEnviron: + LANGUAGE=tl_PH:en + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=tl_PH.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic root=UUID=e01a4adc-e737-4ae8-be7e-e3afb2c402e0 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 + Renderer: Unknown + Tags: natty running-unity ubuntu compiz-0.9 + Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 + UnreportableReason: The drivers from nvidia.com are not supported by Ubuntu. Please do 'dmesg dmesg.txt' when you're on the console during the hang, and after the reboot attach dmesg.txt here. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/764650 Title: Flash video with hardware acceleration causes X crash with radeon driver Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: xorg New install of Kubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwahl. Emachines e442, Xorg verson 1:7.6+4ubuntu3, ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200] with the generic open source radeon driver. Viewing Flash video in full screen on web browsers causes the Xserver to crash. The only solution is to go to the virtual console, kill firefox with the killall or kill -9 PID command, and restart the computer. Restarting KDM leads to a loss of network connections. Steps to recreate: 1. Open Firefox, Chrome, or Rekonq 2. Play flash video 3. Hit the full screen button The bug persists when trying to view videos with hardware acceleration enabled. Disabling hardware acceleration causes videos to start in full screen, but exit immediately. Enabling the fglrx driver from the Additional driver utility solves the problem, but brings on others, not related to the flash issue. Additional information on demand.
