disabling capture_before_unmap seems to fix the problem. Here's my quick test: - Open a Chrome window on virtual desktop 1 - Open a terminal on virtual desktop 2 - Do Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Left to move the terminal to desktop 1 With capture_before_unmap enabled the terminal window is not displayed properly (most of it is missing). The bug is indeed still present. I had missed the capture_before_unmap suggestion. It was indeed turned off. Hi Jamie, Possibly this is bug 740387 in metacity (also see #654768)? Do you have capture-before-unmap turned on in gconf:/apps/metacity/general/ ? I've noticed this also on my system (Ubuntu Natty, running Ubuntu Classic no effects without Compiz). I have a Dell 1420 laptop with an Intel video 'card' (Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller according to Hardinfo). I notice it in the classic Gnome panels a lot, where parts of the panels became darkened.
