Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCorePlayer - As a LMS server (See how-to here - work in progress)???
Yes, that was the trick. Open the case, pull out the SDCard running Volumio, and drop in a new card with PcP 8.0.0 Within minutes I had music playing again via Squeezelite. Yes, I can now see the player in LMS again. Huzzah! So nice having a GUI to configure Squeezelite settings rather than using ssh commands. Selected *HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro* from the drop-down list of output devices and sweet sounds come out the speakers (i2S out into Metrum Onyx DAC). I'm pretty sure I used the correct string in the Output Settings but managed to copy and paste the wrong one in my msg. For the last successful effort I was using -front:CARD=E30,DEV=0- as suggested by @Man in a van. All a bit beside the point now as the Pi appears to be dead. After a good few hours last night of playing, the music just stopped and I've not been able to boot it at all. On restart I was getting a red light followed by three maybe four green flashes. I tried reformatting and re-flashing the card with the PCP OS and now I'm getting eight green flashes followed by nothing--I gather that's serious. I've asked PiHut about exchanging the Pi. All being well I'll be able give it another go then. Your welcome to try at your own risk :) Plug it into the a pCP rpi usb 2 socket Reboot the rpi, go to the Squeezelite Settings select USB as Audio output, save and follow the instructions. If you have no output to select that looks like the device, just reboot Open a Terminal (user tc, password piCore) and type Code: lsmod You are looking for a line with usb_snd_audio.
