(I googled first but might have missed it.)

Is it possible to configure more than one wifi network in
wpa_supplicant.conf?

Thanks and best regards,

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support

2020-01-11 Thread mkt

I am happily running piCorePlayer v6.0.0-b7 on a new RP 4. I am always
amazed that such a great project exists, and I hope everyone donates.

Under one setup, I did have some pops occur between flac tracks with
different sample rates (e.g., 16/44.1 -> 24/96). I blame the DAC/USB
combination, though without much basis. I tried upsampling everything in
order to avoid sample rate changes, but I didn't find the right
squeezelite settings (poor google skills I know), and kept ending up
with a squeezelite that wouldn't start.

Here are my results from connecting what I have in different ways.

POPS = piCorePlayer into Topping D30 (USB interface) <- my initial
choice :-(
NO POPS =piCorePlayer into Benchmark DAC3 (USB interface) <- incongruous
pair?
NO POPS = miniDSP with squeezelite into Topping 30 (coax) <- trying to
see if the Topping 30 was always trouble
NO POPS = piCorePlayer into Topping D50s (USB interface) <- this seems
like a winner!

I'm just reporting my experience so folks deciding on a DAC can have
another data point to use in their decision.

Hi,

unfortunately there is nothing more we can do here. The player software
would need to reduce the volume at the end and increase it again when
starting the new stream. I don't think squeezelite (the base player from
PiCorePlayer) can do this.

Best regards,
Daniel

Might this fix help the loud popping problem that happens when changing

First, thanks for giving a clear and simple suggestion, good match for
my skill level.
Still pops. :-(
The pops weren't limited to short tracks (I picked short tracks so I
could test quickly and easily share).

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried that and still get (loud) pops.

The pops are reproducible (if I repeat the track sequence, they happen
at the same place).
Is there a diagnostic that would be helpful?
I turned on squeezelite logging for 3 short tracks (track POP track POP

I spoke too soon.
There are not as many pops, and they are not as loud, but still
startling.
They are less predictable with respect to bitrate, but never seem to
involve 16/44 and are reproducible.

Upsampling everything removes the pops that were occurring when going to
tracks with lower bitrate. Much improved listening experience! Random

Thanks for the clear instructions on how to do that.
Since you have not seen this problem with the hifiberry dac+, could

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20

2017-05-28 Thread mkt

There is a loud pop (makes me afraid for my poor speakers!) when I go
from a track with a higher bitrate to one with a lower one. For
instance, from 24/96 flac to 24/48 or 16/44. No pops when going from
lower to higher bit rate.
I'm using piccoreplayer 3.20 and the Hifiberry DAC+ setting.

Any suggestions? Drivers? Settings? It's really awful.

I saw a similar question here
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107223-Announce-piCorePlayer-3-20-Beta=880311=1#post880311
but different DAC (?) and didn't see the solution.

Thanks!

Back in the old days every Fedora upgrade upgraded perl, broke the
squeeze server and would take quite a long time to get addressed. Fedora
does not have the user base to get its itches scratched anymore. The
interwebs (and this forum) are full are elaborate recipes to handle
fedora update breakage.

Fixed in a day with a repo? That's great! Thanks again!

Just an idea, I had some errors like that before I uninstalled the
logitech version, disabled the logitech repository and really installed
from the community-squeeze repository.

Aside from the firewall issues, every single instance where people have

I think that I removed the logitech rpm and disabled the repository. The
files that give the error messages seem to belong the the appropriate
rpm.

That works! Thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can't run SBS-7.6 on Fedora 15

2011-07-01 Thread mkt

I'm running an older nightly (r32517) and it seems to work, mostly.
There seem to be problems with the scanner. Newer versions don't even
start.

[SlimDevices: Unix] fedora 14 / perl 5.12?

2010-11-02 Thread mkt

I upgraded from fedora 12 to fedora 14 and get this messages when I try
to start the server:

Starting Squeezebox Server: Use of inherited AUTOLOAD for non-method
YAML::Syck::DumpYAML() is deprecated at
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/YAML/Syck.pm line 65.
The following modules failed to load: EV XML::Parser::Expat JSON::XS
YAML::Syck Sub::Name

The perl is perl-5.12.2-136.fc14.i686.

Any ideas?

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] fedora 14 / perl 5.12?

I used all my google-fu to find something that provides libssp with no
success.

For now, I'm playing with ssh'ing to the Touch and doing an nsf mount.

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77604

And thinking about running a virtual machine, which I've never done
with linux as the host.
