Ah, Steve McQueen, video artist and Turner Prize winner 
(http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/turnerprize/history/mcqueen.htm 
), his first feature. By all accounts extraordinary. I don't know  
about France or the US, but like McQueen I remember Bobby Sands'  
hunger strike. On the news every day, what I remember is the debate  
about whether there should be intervention or not

).

I also think a future direction of narrative cinema will be this more  
poetic cinema. The cinema of attractions (the blockbuster hang on to  
your seat SFX thrill fest) is a fin-de-siecle sort of thing as popular  
cinema increasingly gets like opera (big, grand, expensive, indulgent  
and while significant, perhaps not terribly relevant in the scheme of  
things). When anyone can do FX on their own computer (witness the rise  
of fan feature films, for example remakes of Star Wars (http://www.smh.com.au/news/film/film-fans-put-themselves-in-the-picture/2008/02/19/1203190819018.html
 
  />) then what compels and justifies cinema going is not the  
spectacle but its elegance (artistry, poetry, style).

[videoblogging] Canon HV20 footage output settings on iMovie....

I'm seeing interlaced footage when I output from iMovie regardless of
whether or not I click 'deinterlace source footage'  in the output settings,
when I set the output settings to 1280 x 720.

Don't see the problem when I output at 640x360

Have been using these settings

Good news!
I remember how much of a burden was lifted off of my back when he and  
the first family were taking the stage in Grant Park.

I was never very fond of him either, but I'll tell you, for me, the  
world changed that moment.

Great news on the internet front, but not so much on the financial  
front.

His 'money men' are very disappointing to me.

It won't be "sideways when you pan" if the tripod is level (that was the 
point of adjusting one of the legs)

A suggestion: see if you can find a circular level. Some tripods have this 
built in, but you can buy a general purpose one that is somewhat bigger than 
a built-in one .. but will work for setting up the tripod.  It's a round 
device with  two or three concentric rings and, of course, a small bubble of 
air inside. It helps to level in two dimensions ... more like 360 degrees. 
Unlike a conventional "ruler" level that is designed to level only in one 
dimension.
