RE: Re: Notifications in iOS 17 are too quiet, and there's nothing you can do about it
Setting ringtones as text tones and vice versa has been available in iOS for as far back as I can remember. They probably just changed it so users would find it easier to find the right tones, but like someone else in this thread said, it causes issues with iTunes tones which may be classified as "ringtones" but may in fact be alert tones. I have several such tones, and fortunately those that were assigned to contacts or other notifications have stayed the same after the update, as long as I don't change them. - Original Message - From: "Øyvind Lode" Date: Thursday, September 21, 2023 05:14 To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Notifications in iOS 17 are too quiet, and there's nothing you can do about it Sorry. RE: Notifications in iOS 17 are too quiet, and there's nothing you can do about it
I've reported it through feedback and called apple once 17 officially dropped. This was a on purpose change that I suspect will be rolled back. The best they can do is give a user option to let us choose our sound. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Renee Patete Sent: Wednesday, September 20, 2023 9:29 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Notifications in iOS 17 are too quiet, and there's nothing you can do about it I've had the same issue and have reported it in the Feedback Assistant. Re: Notifications in iOS 17 are too quiet, and there's nothing you can do about it
My notifications come through loud and clear. I use the note sound for text messages etc and it sounds like it always has. The only difference I find is the default notification sound. That has changed to a lower tone which I actually like. So, what are everyone complaining about? On Tue, 19 Sept 2023 at 18:56, Dennis Long wrote: > > Complain Complain Complain I did yesterday. By: MALCOLM OWEN SEPTEMBER 19, 2023 11:31 AM EDT Apple rolled out iOS 17 on Monday, complete with a long list of features and updates. One quiet change was the notification sound, named Rebound, which is a replacement for the well-known Tri-tone alert. The problem is that it's a literal quiet change. People are complaining that it is not loud enough to be really useful as a notification sound. In posts to X, formerly known as Twitter, users complain that the default notification tone in iOS 17 is too quiet "even at full volume." Part of the issue is there's no way to alter the sound. There's no option within the various settings of iOS 17 to adjust just the notification sound to make it louder. Users who prefer the sound of the Tri-tone alert are also unable to get that back either, as you cannot change the default sound in iOS 17. At this stage, there's nothing that users can do except complain to Apple about it. It is unclear if Apple will include extra settings in an iOS 17 update that enables notification sounds to be altered, but if there's enough noise about the problem, it could become a reality in the future. There is something you can do and that is to file this as a complaint with Apple Accessibility. Keep in mind that if nobody officially complains about it then it is unlikely anything will be done about it.
