Re: iPHone 5 Contacts Icon and Problem Moving to Desktop Page 2

2013-02-16 Thread Alan Paganelli
Alan, your contacts are in the utilities app. When changing the pages, when
you hear something like page 1 of 7, that's where you can flick up or down to
move through the pages.

I know these are really basic questions but I'm an iPhone newbie so hopefully
you'll cut me some slack.

1.. I just synced my Outlook contacts and calendar with my iPhone but I'll
be darned if I can find a Contacts icon on my iPhone's main screen with which
to access the contacts. I know at least part of the sync was successful since I
have calendar items under that icon. How do I review my phone's contacts?
2.. The apps icon sits on desktop page 2 of my iPhone 5 but I'm having a
lot of difficulty getting to that second page. I found the page dots at the
bottom of the screen where it says page 1 and swipe up or down to change page
selection but when I swipe, nothing happens. I have to turn VoiceOver off and
then swipe left or right as a sighted person would do to get to the second
page. Any suggestions on an easier method or what I might be doing wrong?

  Thanks for your help.

RE: iPhone 5 Contacts Icon and Problem Moving to Desktop Page 2

2013-02-15 Thread Rose Combs
Contacts are on newer phones after IOS 5 located in the utilities folder.
You can also open the phone app and they are on the third tab. On the 4 and
4S the utilities folder is on page 2, on the 5 it is near the dock at the
bottom of the screen if you have not changed anything.

I was messing with my husband's 5 a few days ago and he could not find
contacts either, but I did. Not eligible for an upgrade but I do like the
slimmer phone.

RE: iPHone 5 Contacts Icon and Problem Moving to Desktop Page 2

2013-02-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
c". You can change
the folder name manually.
To move an app from home screen 2 onto home screen 1, double tap and hold
the app, then move your finger towards the left edge of the phone. If you
reach the desired spot Voiceover will announce that and then you just hold
still for a second or 2 and the app will wrap over to the previous screen,
move to the right edge if you want to go from home screen 1 to home screen
2.
If you have for example 6 home screens and you want to move an app from 6 to
1, you would do the same, but keep holding your finger down. The app will
move to home screen 5 and if you keep holding after about 2 or 3 seconds it
will move to 4, then to 3, to 2 and finally 1.

For a more detailed explanation and demo, check out the Podcast from Garth
on moving apps on www.iBlindTech.com. Garth actually has a good series of
Podcasts and the nice thing is that his earliest Podcasts cover the very
basics and he progressively moves on to more advanced stuff. One could
almost think he actually put some thought into what Podcasts he is doing and
in which order *smile*.

Hope this helps a bit,
Sieghard

2013-02-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain
You can also double tap on the Page 1 of 2 button to get to the next
page, and as Anna says, there is a Contacts app on your phone somewhere.
I don't recall where it is on a virgin phone any more, since I tucked
mine away in a folder.

Re: iPHone 5 Contacts Icon and Problem Moving to Desktop Page 2

2013-02-15 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

Flick left with three fingers to move to page 2, and right with three fingers
to move back to page 1. If you flick right again, or press Home from page 1,
you'll be on a search screen. Type Contacts, and your iPHone will find the
Contacts app. perhaps it's in a folder; if that's the case, the search will
tell you which folder it's in, which should help you find it next time.

Or if you have Siri, hold down Home, and say, "Open Contacts."

Best,
Anna

iPHone 5 Contacts Icon and Problem Moving to Desktop Page 2

2013-02-15 Thread Alan Lemly
I know these are really basic questions but I'm an iPhone newbie so
hopefully you'll cut me some slack.

1. I just synced my Outlook contacts and calendar with my iPhone but
I'll be darned if I can find a Contacts icon on my iPhone's main screen with
which to access the contacts. I know at least part of the sync was
successful since I have calendar items under that icon. How do I review my
phone's contacts?
2. The apps icon sits on desktop page 2 of my iPhone 5 but I'm having a
lot of difficulty getting to that second page. I found the page dots at the
bottom of the screen where it says page 1 and swipe up or down to change
page selection but when I swipe, nothing happens. I have to turn VoiceOver
off and then swipe left or right as a sighted person would do to get to the
second page. Any suggestions on an easier method or what I might be doing
wrong?

Thanks for your help.
