RE: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2014-03-04 Thread Cristóbal
I also experience this issue with having to press the play/pause button but
with the iOS female voice. I either use her or James as I've found them to
be the most reliable for overall pronunciation. For whatever reason, I
don't' have a problem with starting speech when using James either by
pressing the play/pause button or the two finger double tap.

It goes without saying, the app is great and is my prefered reading tool for
non-audiobooks.

Hi Winston,
First of all, let me say that I love Voice Dream reader. However, since the
latest update, I have been experiencing great difficulty when using the app.
I should explain that I listen to books, when I am reading in English, using
Daniel the voice-over voice. My problem occurs when I try to pause or
restart the reading. I tend to have to either press the pause/play button
three times all make the two finger double tap, also, three times, before
anything happens. Plus, when I restart reading, I find the cursor has moved
on quite a long way through the text. So, I wonder, are you looking into
this? Or, perhaps, it is only me and I will have to try to reinstall the
app?

Thanks for your time,
Sandy

I know about the problem you're describing. Believe it or not, it's caused by a
bug in the built-in IOS voices. These problems do not occur with Heather, or
any of the paid voices.

This problem will go away in iOS 7.1 -- I verified it in iOS 7.1 beta.

even though, with voice dream, you can search part of the text in the
document, and it gives you the results like jaws does with word index. It is
a very nice tool, because like this we can find text, descriptions,
definitions, formulas, in the whole document, in an easyer way than sliding
line by line on the text. More over, the time that you can go back or
forward is something that you can modify to the value that you want.

I'm confused, here. Are you saying that you can't see you the text using
voice over if you just put one finger on the screen and moving around? I'm
able to access the text voice over, and even navigate through it.

Thanks,
Ari

I'm confused, here. Are you saying that you can't see you the text using voice
over if you just put one finger on the screen and moving around? I'm able to
access the text voice over, and even navigate through it.

Thanks,

RE: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-06-29 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,

No, you can't turn off the voice, but the text is always on the screen. If
he doesn't need the voice output, but is reading it visually, just don't hit
the play button.

The app is designed to be used for listening to books, but you can just
manually scroll the pages and read it visually if you choose.

HTH,

Richard

Hello,

I would like to get voice dream reader for my physically disabled son, but
we need the feature that will allow him to read the books without voice. He
has a bookshare account. Is there a way to turn off the voice and still
read the text? Thanks.

Take your .zip DAISY book and change ".zip" to ".daisy".

Put the file in Dropbox, and open it from Voice Dream Reader.

I heard that the directory structure in the zip file must be correct: same
as the DIASY files you download from Bookshare. If that's the case, it
should work.

2013-03-01 Thread Winston
Of course, Voice Dream Reader can download DAISY books from Bookshare.
If you have your own DAISY books, it is actually possible to open it. I
haven't publicized it.
Best,
Winston.

2013-03-01 Thread Brett

 Hi,

You are really doing a fantastic job. Since purchasing your app, I have
uninstalled four different apps I use to use to read with, since Voice
Dream can replace them.

A long term wish would be that when importing a PDF, or HTML file that
the table of contents would show up in the bookmarks list and that if
headings were present, that we could navigate by them. I realise that
this app is still quite new, and will develop with time, but I am still
extremely happy with this app the way it currently is and am constantly
talking it up to all my friends.

You have done a great job so far, please keep up the great work.

Cheers,
Brett.

My short term goal is to make my app at least as accessible as iBooks,
which does not have things like navigation by sentence. I don't think
iBooks support line mode in the Rotor which Voice Dream will. I think
with the next release, Voice Dream will be more accessible than iBooks.

it is a lack of granular control about navigating the text i.e.
spelling out a specific word, reviewing the text by line or sentence,
etc. Of course, this won't be an issue once VoiceOver is able to see
the text, but it is an issue for now. Perhaps with VoiceOver able to

the

iTunes file transfer is coming in the next release also. It should be out
in the wild in a few days.
To all, you can join the Voice Dream Facebook
page, http://www.facebook.com/voicedreamreader, or follow @VoiceDreamApp on
Twitter. I try to keep everyone informed on what I'm working on.

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-28 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi Winston. What I really like about Voice Dream Reader is how it
basically treats the reading of books as if it was playing audio. This
makes the double-tap with 2 fingers pause and play the speaking of the
text. That is one of its best features I think. If the next update works
as you describe below with the text showing up on screen for Voice Over
users, it will be enough for me to possibly change all my text reading
from ILike2Read to Voice Dream Reader. One thing I'm wondering is if you
have plans on making the app appear in iTunes so you can add files
directly to it using the file sharing feature. I thought it was there,
but can't find it in the list of file sharing apps when my phone is
connected.

Thanks.

with the next release, Voice Dream will be more accessible than iBooks.

2013-02-28 Thread Grant Hardy
I really appreciate the obvious effort you have put into making Voice
Dream Reader as accessible and convenient for everybody as possible!

Speaking for myself, the thing that really prevents me from relying on
it is a lack of granular control about navigating the text i.e.
spelling out a specific word, reviewing the text by line or sentence,
etc. Of course, this won't be an issue once VoiceOver is able to see
the text, but it is an issue for now. Perhaps with VoiceOver able to
track where you are, and some more navigation options i.e. forcing the
rewind and fast forward to navigate by sentence rather than in thirty
second increments, I'll be able to rely on the app.

Cheers.

This is a great app. It's easy to use for those of us who aren't real
computer savvy, and even the default voice sounds good! This is the first
app I've used that I will try to go and give a 5-star rating to. Thanks for
all you've done to make a cost friendly accessible and practical app.

God bless!

As I stated in the previous message, great job, for those looking for a
great reader with the ability to use the high quality speech voices this app
is the best I have seen.

I'm the developer of Voice Dream Reader. I'm just finishing up the next
release, which will have page navigation for Bookshare books, and VoiceOver
access to the text. I plan to submit it to Apple this week, which means
it'll be out next week.

I'm listening to you and I'll do my best to make my app work for you.

I agree with Raul one of the best apps I have run into in quite some time. I
hope perhaps the folks at apple are paying attention and at least give folks
the option to use some of the voices allowed within voice dream.

So far I think you have done a great job. I urge everyone who uses this app
to give it a five star rating since this will help it look better in the App
Store. Not only that, but the app definitely deserves five stars.

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-26 Thread Brett
Hi,

Voice dream has a sleep timer. The next update is suppose to allow us to see
the text, so it should be able to read with VoiceOver if you desire.

Voice dream also is being actively updated and the author is very receptive to
user suggestions, unlike read to go.

Read 2 go will read continually With voice over, until the end of a chapter or
section. Then you just double click the next section button and do a two finger
swipe to start reading again. I find this feature advantageous because some
times I fall asleep while reading.

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-25 Thread David Chittenden
You can read each section continuously using VO in Read2Go. I do it all the
time. Sections are usually separated by change of headings. For light reading,
this is most often by chapter (unless you have Read2Go set to show each page).

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-25 Thread Kyle Seitz
As far as I know, you can't read continuously with Read2Go when you're just
using voiceover. The app reads continuously however when using the Read2Go
audio setting. I like Read2Go's navigation, but I'm not a huge fan of the
voices. I use Voice Dream for now.

Voice dream has many more voices to choose from, plus the voices are not
choppy unlike read to go especially when speeded up.

For mind voice dream is the better option, not unlike read to go, voice
dream will not do audio only daisy files, so I guess it depends on what
types of daisy books you will be reading.

Hello: I am wondering which of the two apps in the subject is recommended
to

purchase. At present I have no reading program. I have an account with

and

read Bookshare's books. It seems that Voice Dream is less expensive. Any

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-25 Thread Charles Dean
Read 2 go has much better navigation and I prefer to use the voice over voice
which is not an option with voice dream.
I downloaded a book from book share with no problems with voice dream, although
it took a bit longer than read 2 go.
If you plan to read novels and other books that do not require much navigation,
then voice dream may be a good, less expensive choice for you.
I believe this app will work by itself, and you do not need Reed to go in order
to operate it.

You do not need Read2Go unless you want it.a
