Re: Database template for Cub Scouts?
As per Ronnie's suggestion we've been playing with Numbers O8 and with great timing Peter's subsequent note provided the answer why we couldn't figure out how to lock off column names. We've just downloaded the Bento trial Peter. From what I've read Bento seems to be machine specific. I gather that if my wife had a laptop or some other portable device it would not be able to talk data to the Bento app on our iMac. Is that correct? Re: Multi page scan
Hi Peter, I'm not sure if it is possible in a single scan step but, if not, it is really easy to combine the pages in preview - just save all of the pages as pdfs - give one of them the name you want to end up with and open that file in preview and open the sidebar - then drag the pdfs of the other relevant pages onto the sidebar and there you go. (iPhone apparently excepted) Paul :) Bento is not machine-specific, but it does require Leopard, and does not support networking. Sorry, forgot to mention that. If the sharing of the data file is important to you, then Bento is not going to work. However, you can set it up so that the laptop can use the Bento file on the iMac. Bento keeps its database file (yes, it's a single file) in ~/Library/Application Support/Bento. You'll need to share this folder (fortunately in Leopard this is easy to do ), then set an alias to the Bento database (bento.bentodb) on the Laptop. The Dock would be the best place. You would then simply click the icon in the Dock and Bento would open the file. You just couldn't have Bento running on both machines at once. -- Peter HinchliffeApwin Computer Services FileMaker Pro Solutions Developer Perth, Western Australia Phone (618) 9332 6482Fax (618) 9332 0913 Mac because I prefer it -- Windows because I have to. -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au

Re: iPhone car kit
My issue is that the coverage is increased via the car's high gain aerial which is part of the kit I had installed and the kit also keeps the phone charged, I talk on it via bluetooth which is integrated with the car audio system. Installing the kit cost a small fortune so I would like to keep using it especially when we take the 10,000 KM. drive over east every year. Re: Renumbering digital photos
Hi WAMUG folks. There is also Exif Renamer: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12577 I use it in conjunction with Image Capture (comes with every Mac). I set Image Capture to launch Exif Renamer (and then rename / renumber each photo based on specific criteria). Exif Renamer is simple, but very powerful. Using Image Capture + Exif Renamer, you can rename / renumber your pics before even opening up an photo-editing program... Re: Sending iCal Events
I use iCal a lot with predominantly Windows users and have no problems. The Windows users some times have to look at their properties. Does anyone know if it's unlikely that my friends will be able to use this system?
