Re: Nikon Scan software

2011-12-18 Thread Peder Kristensen
Hi Chris,

I have been using VueScan Pro for some time, and I’m very happy with it. The
pro version gives you extra scanning features and unlimited software updates.
Contra to other scanning softwares, like SilverFast, it does not have a lot of
pre editing corrections. These are mainly made post scan, using Photoshop or
other similar products.

I suggest you try out the demo versions, also for supported scanner, see
http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/vuescan.htm#supported

I did also get the VueScan Bible book, which gives you more in-depth
information about the VueScan scanning features.

Cheers,
Peder

Re: Nikon Scan software

2011-12-18 Thread Ray Forma
Chris,

I have been using VueScan for about 8 years now. It has great depth of features
and drives just about any device that can scan, regardless of age. For example,
I am currently using it to digitise a book printed in 1870, using the feature
where the output is a pdf file with the images of pages, but with an OCR text
overlay. Produced in one step, all by VueScan. My current scanner is a 6 year
old CanoScan, and VueScan drives it without missing a beat.

Have had many tens of updates over the 8 years, all free because I bought the
Pro version.

Hi Chris,

Also, If you upgraded to Snow Leopard, you might find you need to re-install
Nikon Scan 4.20 before it will launch.

Re: Nikon Scan software

2011-12-18 Thread Ronda Brown
Hi Chris,

Try to open Nikon Scan 4.02 and if Rosetta is not already installed Snow
Leopard will display a dialogue saying that you need Rosetta to run this
program and offer to download and install it for you.
Clicking 'Not Now' stops the installation process, and your application won't
launch.
Clicking 'Install' downloads and installs Rosetta from Apple's servers so your
app can properly launch.

Or you can install Rosetta from the Optional Installs on your Snow Leopard
Installation DVD.
Insert the Snow Leopard installation DVD, open the Optional Installs folder,
double-click the Optional Installs.mpkg file, and follow the installer
instructions.

Cheers,
Ronni.

Re: Nikon Scan software

2011-12-18 Thread Ronda Brown
Hi Chris,

Did you install Rosetta when you upgraded to Snow Leopard?

Nikon Scan 4.0.2 apparently will run on OS X 10.6 if you installed Rosetta when
you upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Cheers,
Ronni

Nikon Scan software

2011-12-18 Thread Chris Burton
Hi Muggers

I was about to wipe the dust off my trusty Nikon IV film scanner and thought I
would check if the NikonScan software will run on OS 10.6. It doesnt!!
It seems Nikon has not done any upgrades for this or many others in a long time.

The Nikon website suggests using a 3rd party software provider called VueScan
up to V 9 by the looks of it with a price tag of about $80 for the pro version.

I thought I would ask folks in the Group if you have any advice/experience etc
with VueScan or if there is any other good software that is a little less
expensive?

Many thanks and kind regards

Chris

I have just a while looking for a printer driver for the Epson Tx300F for Lion.
I cannot find it. Am I to believe that Epson have not developed this? Same
