Schwump
I saw Schump the other night in the color episode where Andy get's the $1000 check from the movie studio. He was in the crowd that Goober had brought in to the courthouse to see the check. Rafe
I didn't mean cause a big milange. I just wondered if anybody else had noticed. I wanted to make sure, so last night I pulled out my brand new boxed set of DVD's and played that part over and over until I came to the conclusion that Rafe was really saying, "Hal, that's me!" I don't know what "hal" means. It could be a contraction of "huh well" with a little Mayberry twang. I'm sure it was not anything naughty, though. We all know that's just not possible in Mayberry. That would be just "crude talk" as Gomer would say. And besides, if Rafe had used a bad word, his face would have become colored like in that movie "Pleasantville." Rafe Hollister expletive?
In the episode "Rafe Hollister Sings", has anyone besides me ever noticed the word that Rafe uses when he tells Andy that he is the prisoner that Andy says was released without getting his new suit of clothes? It sounds awfully close to "_ell, that's me!" I think I hear an "H", though. Growing up, I used to hear people begin a sentence with " ell " as in " Ell let's go." They probably used " ell" instead of "well." But I don't think that's what Rafe said. It's not offensive but I was wondering why it wasn't censored in 1963. Re: Funniest Episode
One candidate for funniest eoisode has to be "Opie's Charity". Opie gets off a lot off funny lines when he and Andy are talking about poor Horatio the half a boy. And the scene with Andy and Tom Silby at the cemetery talking about Tom's funeral is hilarious too. Any episode with Gomer probably ties for first place though. I think the funniest instant in any episode was when Andy drove away on Barney's new motorcycle and the camera cuts to Barney sitting in the sidecar by the curb with all the old timers rolling on the sidewalk and doubled over in laughter. I envy people who see that for the first time. Randy Moffett Gardendale, Alabama - Yahoo! Photos Showcase holiday pictures in hardcover Photo Books.
