I don't know why people add a new "$wgCopyUploadsFromSpecialUpload" since
1.20.0.

But it creat bug in my wiki(1.22wmf9 (0727d6a))

I use to use
$wgGroupPermissions['autoconfirmed']['upload_by_url'] = true;
$wgAllowCopyUploads = true;
everything works fine.

After 1.20 the URL upload bar despaired and then I realized new configuration
is :

$wgGroupPermissions['autoconfirmed']['upload_by_url'] = true;
$wgAllowCopyUploads = true;
$wgCopyUploadsFromSpecialUpload = true;
From http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgCopyUploadsFromSpecialUpload

However, when $wgCopyUploadsFromSpecialUpload = true; the system can't detect
duplicate image and can't copy file name too.

Here is a screenshot when $wgCopyUploadsFromSpecialUpload set to false:
http://i.imgur.com/JVImbF2.jpg

Here is another screenshot when $wgCopyUploadsFromSpecialUpload set to true,
which is abnormal: http://i.imgur.com/3oBwXfd.jpg

And this is a link for testment: http://en.moegirl.org/Special:Upload

I noticed this on the English Wikipedia, where the actual Mediawiki version is
1.22wmf12 (bbaecbc). I tried to view the messages from a private filter which I
didn't have permission to view. Instead of an error message, messages from
other filters were shown, as though I had left "Filter ID:" blank on the form.
Special:AbuseFilter says "You may not view details of this filter because it is
hidden from public view." A message like that would be far less confusing.

[Bug 52976] New: Provide user_slot resource in grid

Hasteur asked on IRC for a way to limit some jobs to five in parallel, while
keeping "room for random pitch jobs" which wouldn't be available if he just let
the grid handle the scheduling because that would use all 16 (?) slots.

Toolserver has a user_slot resource (cf.
https://wiki.toolserver.org/view/Job_scheduling#Optional_resources):

| * user_slot=1
| This resource is limit to 10 slots for each user. It has no specific
meaning and can be used for limiting the number of job that are executed in
parallel by a single user.
| E.g. if you have different scripts that all edit wiki pages and you would
like to have them run sequential, so that only one job runs at the same time,
you can request -l user_slot=10 for each job. If one job is running it consumes
all available ten user_slots and all other job requesting this resources are
queued until the first job has finished.

That would be useful in Tools as well. For better granularity however, I
propose we choose 100 or 1000 instead.

[Bug 52204] Newly typed ISBN doesn't automatically render as a link

> Magic links are pretty evil.

They are one of many unusual pieces of wiki syntax. And it is quite 'wikipedia'
specific functionality which could be dropped from core.

> Explicitly marking links with a parser function
> is
> much more sensible.

If the goal is to replace them with a more standard syntax, a 'isbn' interwiki
pointing to special:booksources/$1 would be syntax that is more similar and
conceptually closer also. Ideally it would render as an internal link when the
interwiki points to the local special page.

> I'm not sure supporting magic links in VisualEditor is a
> good idea.

What is the impact of not supporting these magic links on a) big wikipedias
like enwp where these magic works will often be used from a cite template
(which can be changed without editing millions of pages) and b) small wikis
which are imo more likely to use these magic words in raw wikitext.
I.e. How many bot edits are needed, and how many tools need to be revised.

[Bug 52974] "Enter your username" placeholder text on signup page

Enter your *desired* username is implied I think, since the person obviously
knows they're creating an account. We moved away from not using possessives
(e.g. "a username" vs. "your username") because it needs to be clear that we're
talking about something that represents your identity on the given project.

The strings page you link to was part of an A/B test and wasn't the final spec,
hence the /Experiment name. Sorry for any confusion.

This is not a bug, but is a change that was done intentionally as part of the
SUL2 redesign.[1]

The original purpose of the MediaWiki:Welcomecreation-msg was to house the
icons that log you in across wikis. Now that hacky system has been replaced
with something that happens in the background, so there is no reason to force
users to go through an interstitial after they login or signup. Unless you want
to create a custom welcome page of some kind, that is. There is further
discussion on the bug I'm marking this as duplicate of.

What type of testing was done, and how significant was the benefit of adding

I am surprised that usability studies would recommend "Enter your username" for
type=signup?? IMO that is a bug (Bug 52974).

preferences (like the watchlist token), and is expired frequently; e.g. daily

Apps can use while we wait for OAuth to be implemented, and its simplicity may
mean edit tokens continue to be used in simple apps even after OAuth lands.

When a code is entered of which there is no subdomain (of Wikipedia,

[Bug 52064] Use control to toggle visibility of annotations

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52064

--- Comment #1 from Matthew Flaschen  ---
The first step is to think about how to do the interface for this. I have a
few ideas, but I'm sure there's a lot more I haven't thought of:

1. An icon (similar to the watchlist star, but a different icon) to toggle
them, with a visible on and off state.
2. A separate tab next to read (e.g. "View with annotations"). When that's
selected, annotations will be visible and the tab will be selected.
3. A link in the toolbox

Feel free to consider other ideas, and consult the design mailing list if you
want.

Bug ID: 52970
   Summary: SMW Special Property for Creator is
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Semantic MediaWiki
  Assignee: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
  Reporter: ja...@thingelstad.com
CC: jamesin.hongkon...@gmail.com, jeroen_ded...@yahoo.com,
mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org, nischay...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

Per the SMW Special Properties [1] it would be really helpful to have a
Creation editor property. Similar to how Creation date and Modification date
work, Creation editor would be the person that created the page, separate from
the last editor.

I would suggest a new _CEDT label with property like "Creator is" or "First
editor is".

Thanks for considering! There are a number of cases where I want to show what
users have created and right now there is no easy way to do this except for
doing stuff with Semantic Forms defaults and such.

It seems visual editor adds access key "v" for visual editing. That accesskey
is already in use for viewing diffs both in histories (although that needs a
fix for bug 24977) and when editing pages. Visual editor needs to find another
access key.

[Bug 52726] Assamese typing problem in visualeditor

Thanks for pointing out the problems with the report.

* I have tested it in Mozilla Firefox 22 and Google chrome 23.
* There are currently 6 input layouts for Assamese under ULS. While trying to
write Assamese in visualeditor with any one of them, NO Assamese character
comes out.
* 'Some tools' refer various Assamese writing tools like to Rodali, Baraha,
Azhagi+, Avro barnana etc.

With Rodali, there seems to be problems with vowels like ী (ঈ), ূ (ঊ), ৌ (ঔ).
So while trying to write 'অসমীয়া', it becomes 'অসীয়া'. 'মূহুৰ্ত' becomes '
ূহুৰ্ত', 'কৌটি' becomes ' ৌটি' etc.

with Azhagi+, the problem is more. Only the last vowel character of a word is
shown in visualeditor. So 'অসমীয়া' becomes 'া'.

With Baraha, the problem is again with vowel characters like ঐ and ঔ. So
'সৈমান' becomes ' ৈমান'.

Similar problems exists with Avro.

[Bug 15441] Some tables lack unique or primary keys, may allow confusing duplicate data

2013-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15441

--- Comment #18 from Tyler Romeo  ---
If this is being actively worked on, I'd like to note one other thing that
should probably be changed along with this: a lot of our tables have primary
keys, but also don't at the same time. Basically, the maintenance/tables.sql
file doesn't list the table as having a primary key, but MySQL behavior is to
choose the first non-null unique key as use it as a primary key anyway. In
other words, the tables don't *look* like they have primary keys in their
definitions, but they actually do when created. It'd be simpler and less
misleading to just explicitly declare the primary keys.

Also, I'd like to note one thing about primary keys with InnoDB: all tables
have primary keys. If you don't specify one, as I said, MySQL will try and
choose a unique non-null index. But even if there is none of those, it will
create it's own "hidden primary key" using a custom 6-byte row id.
Unfortunately, this is really slow because the value for the next row id is not
per-table, but per-database. In other words, when inserting into any table
without an actual primary key, MySQL has to lock out all other similar tables
first in order to get a row id.

[Bug 49049] Add Thailand in Thai to the monuments database

2013-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49049

Working on it. If you look at
https://th.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%B7%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%AD%E0%B9%82%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%93%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%96%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%83%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%88%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%B0%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B2&action=edit
you'll see an unnamed parameter "yala" in the header template. This should be a
named parameter and a second one should be added for the iso code, see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:TH

Than we get
* Country (Thailand)
* Province - need the local translation for that
* District
* Tambon

Other fixme's
'unusedImagesPage' : u'Wikipedia:Wiki Loves Monuments/Unused images of cultural
heritage monuments in Thailand', #FIXME: Translate
'imagesWithoutIdPage' : u'Wikipedia:Wiki Loves Monuments/Images of cultural
heritage monuments in Thailand without ID', #FIXME: Translate

Can't use the url in the current format. Can you change it so it's only the url
and not [] around it with text?

[Bug 52591] Wikisource page ns. post-edit confirmation interferes with subsequent .djvu page display

Steven Walling, Thanks for the reply and here are the steps to take to recreate
the issue: Please open the link:

http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Index:Popular_Science_Monthly_Volume_17.djvu

Scroll down to the pages display and select any group of at least five
consecutive pages that are marked in red (not proofread). Beginning with the
first page, click to switch to the page display (Page: namespace).

Please note the [forward] & [backward] arrows in the upper left. These navigate
to the consecutive pages.

Click on [Edit] to open "and watch for the loading of the .djvu page."

Make any change in the main body of the text and scroll down below the text
area and click on [Save]. It may be required to specify a summary (any
character will do).

[Save] closes [Edit] mode, returns to [Read] mode, and triggers the "Your edit
was saved." message. Click the [Right] arrow for the next page while the
message is displayed.

Click on [Edit] to open the next page and watch for the image being loaded.

Some comments:
--
I use the upper/lower edit mode and not the side by side mode. This means that
the image is displayed on top with the editing below.

The problem may not appear in the first couple of pages, although the image
always loads with a noticeable delay. After awhile, the image no longer loads.

I hope this helps, and please ask for any info that;s pertinent.

What? Page_latest should be an integer. Its a foreign key coresponding to

db1009 has been synced with the s2 master and returned to the pool.

The specific errors identified here (the missing rev ids, page_latest, etc)
have been spot-checked and are intact. If anyone spots a recurrence, please
shout.

One small observation: At least some of the original page_latest differences I
observed were due to a difference in FLOAT/DOUBLE precision which threw off the
checksum utility. Rounding to a fixed precision reduced the mismatches
considerably, but did not eliminate them. Therefore I can't say definitively
whether the symptom in comment 17 (wrong version) is due to this bug; just keep
it in mind...

[Bug 49047] Add United Kingdom to the monuments database

Maarten Dammers  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Resolution|--- |FIXED

--- Comment #3 from Maarten Dammers  ---
Today I added England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to the monuments
database.

On the English Wikipedia I used the following row/header templates:
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:EH_listed_building_row
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:NIEA_listed_building_row
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:HB_Scotland_row
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Cadw_listed_building_row

On Commons I created/updated:
* https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Listed_building_England
* https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Listed_building_Northern_Ireland
* https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Listed_building_Scotland
* https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Listed_building_Wales

All the bot magic (categorization, location tagging, images without id, etc) is
enabled and you can see the items in the database:

http://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/api/api.php?action=search&format=html&sradm0=gb&sradm1=eng
http://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/api/api.php?action=search&format=html&sradm0=gb&sradm1=nir
http://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/api/api.php?action=search&format=html&sradm0=gb&sradm1=sct
http://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/api/api.php?action=search&format=html&sradm0=gb&sradm1=wls

Update of the statistics on first import:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons%3AMonuments_database%2FStatistics&diff=102109164&oldid=102075230

The location based data is a bit problematic right now, but we can fix that
later.

Original bug tilte:
key "default" should be InterfaceText rather than string
--

"The default value or description thereof."
Needs translation because
a) The default value may depend on the user's chosen language
b) If a description is supplied it should be in the user's language

a) is maybe arguable but b) is definitely an issue.

Hi there. Taking a look at CentralAuth, I can't see Blocked status as an option
or field anymore. Could you point out where you see it (As this bug was
initially filed 4 years ago)

A web font for Sinhala is needed.

LKLUG is a common Free (GPL) font, which is available in modern Linux
distributions and can be used for this.
