I saw Mark Ernestus and Model 500 at last week's Bloc festival - both
WAY better than the last time I saw either. Model 500 in particular
are much tighter and focused than previous shows I'd seen.

It turns out that Gramaphone Records was able to sort me out, and they
are right down the street from me.
The funny thing is, I didn't check there sooner because I never knew
they really carried Detroit house. It turns out they do, but they
don't put it out in

I agree with the Doin' My Thing vote for his sampled stuff.
I really, really love the Hoodlum 2x12 as far as Rob Hood house stuff
goes though.

Ive bought quite a bit myself:
Billy Love - meloghettomental LP (prod. by T. Parrish)
Tevo Howard - Move 12
Reggie Dokes 12 on We Play House
Dynosde 12 on We Play House
Dam funk - TOEACHIZOWN LP Box Set on Stones Throw
James Pants - New LP on Stones Throw
I still need to grab the Frictionalism
Feeling Tevo Howard on selected tracks at the moment too. I prefer the
less acidic stuff tho and not all his stuff is essential for me.
The Crystal Republic LP has a couple of great moments (title track and
particularly Glass Ceiling which is awesome).
That new Reggie Dokes is great too. A

On the last track of K.Hand's art of music CD. Bought this on a whim
and very impressed. Has a bit more electro type sound and is more
intricate than the other stuff I heard from her (but I haven't heard
much). If you like well done electro-influenced techno and don't have

I don't know if Alex is on the list anymore so I'll chime
in...Ultradyne is no more, Alex Dennis aren't making music together
anymore. I think Alex said he hadn't been working on music for awhile
but may again soon..

Score. I love this stuff. Even if they're just screwing around, old,
collecting checkstubs, and talking themselves up. In the end, it's
more about jealousy, I wish I had the time, guts, and commitment to
run a real studio.
