All,
this is indeed very sad ... last time I was in touch with John was about 1
year ago when he posted a request for contributions for the Sounds from
Space collection in Radcom.
Also at that time he even extracted himself some old recordings from his old
files and sent them to me.
He was very

I have been deeply hurt by the death of John. I know him for a very long
time and I highly respected him. We had so many good and fruitful
discussions about telemetry and analysis of data. As Andy said, with his
good contacts to the Russians he was a very important person for us. He
built a bridge
Thank you Andy.
We have lost a wonderful individual and friend. I am privaliged to
have shared a golden age in amateur satellite communication with John.

Hi all,
Also deeply saddened by the news - A wonderful person whom greatly
supported Amsat and our hobby.
He will indeed be greatly missed and my thoughts are with family and
friends - RIP John.

Sad to hear that John is gone.
He was one of the first QSO's I had in 1993 on RS10.
After that we had QSOs on many of the satellites.
I also remember him from the AMSAT-UK Colloquia where he helped to introduce
new users to satellites. Always friendly and good to talk with.
The last 3 to 4 years
I worked him twice, back in '93 via AO-13 Mode-B, SSB. I gave him a 58
each time. (My reports weren't so good!) Our first contact was a brief
one, on the first weekend I ever operated satellite. The bird was
crowded and I didn't really know what I was doing. The second QSO later

AMSAT-UK is very saddened by the passing of John Heath, G7HIA. He was a long
standing member of AMSAT-UK, and contributed to the amateur space programme
in many ways during his lifetime.
John was a regular attendee at the annual AMSAT-UK Colloquia for many years
and he enjoyed meeting up with his

Dear Jim and AMSAT-UK,
This is terribly sad news. John was a great

RIP my friend G7HIA.

I am new to amateur satellite (this month) and signed up for AMSAT (this week )
and made my first contact Monday. I am excited by the camaraderie of this

looking forward to this new frontier for me and I hope to make cont
Memories of John are bittersweet... I first worked John on AO-10 in 1999 (from
Texas) and met him a year later at an amsat-uk colloquium in 2000. I had
worked John from Russia on FO-20 a few months before as R3/K5OE and we
exchanged cards at Surrey. I looked forward to meeting up with him eve
I was very saddened to learn of John's passing. We had exchanged many
e-mails during the last few years. I didn't know John very well,
although we had met at the ASAT-UK Colloquium on several occasions.
Topics we discussed by e-mail included processing Delphi 3C telemetry,
OSCAR-11 spin rate,
