To complete the install:

At this point, I am giving up on Axis C++ on Windows,
as I am not willing to invest much more time into this
setup. I will instead try Axis C++ on Linux, or
perhaps the Java-based Axis.
So far, I have tried three different Axis C++ on
Windows installations:
- winXP from binaries,
- win2k from bin

I found where modules are loaded, and confirmed that
the mod_axis2.dll is being loaded without apparent
error. (The dso.c:apr_dso_load():L
I figured that it would help if I built Apache on my platform, so I built it on Win2000 in Debug mode. I get the same behaviors as before.
It seems that Apache is calling exit from the following stack trace:
winnt_post_config() // due to signal command "start"
ap_run_post_config()
main()
I d
I repeated the install on a Win2000 machine and got exactly the same (failed) results.
Please note too that (on both configurations) when I try to start the apache server from the "Apache Service Monitor" an error dialog pops up that reports:
"The requested operation has failed!"

Hmmm, I’m using Apache 2.0.54 (installed
using apache_2.0.54-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi) and Axis C++ latest version
checked out from SVN and built using ant in Windows XP 2002. I have my
mod_axis2.dll in /modules/ folder and all other env. vars are
correctly set.
Apache version is as follows
