I just found the obituary of Teresa de Teves (widow of Matheus de
Benevides) and the date looks like it is in March to me (instead of June),

I can’t find a Jesse in the CITEM site linked to his last name FERREIRA nor can
I find him linked to his wife Maria De Conceicao. Under any of those names. He
was born incognito but taken by the Ferreira’s.

That's true as well, about ships from all over stopping in the Azores.
However, the biggest problem is that they don't have enough reference
samples in their database. FTDNA had only 25 samples at one point - and it
was to detect all 9 Azores, all 8 or 9 Cape Verde islands, the 2 Madeira
I was surprised at how little of my DNA was Iberian Peninsula, considering
that my ancestors came from one tiny village on one small Island in the
Azores (Covas, Graciosa).
