cached.. initial plays can result in the usual buffering issues etc, but
subsequent replays seem to play a lot smoother and allow better seeking.

Yes it is possible, but google produces
directions etc through AJAX,
and hence requires _javascript_ support (directions box and text are created at
runtime and can’t be found in the source etc). To get it to work, you
would need to port a copy of the google maps API to your own server, the
