About iptables use:
service iptables stop
or /etc/init.d/iptables stop
not just iptables stop
I imagine (given the name PARANOIA)
that iptables have some restrictions.

I found the solution in the debian diff file for bacula 1.36.3
(bacula_1.36.3-2.diff.gz). Changing the DB_LIBS line in the Makefile
did the trick.
DB_LIBS = -L/usr/lib/postgresql -lpq -lcrypt

I just upgraded my bacula server (and all clients) to 1.38
from 1.36 and I have not changed any of my config files yet.
I was wondering what the list feels are the most important
things that will need to change in the conf files for the dir, sd, and fd?

I looked at the manual and I have not seem anything the Bconsole. I saw diagram on how the passwords must match but I haven't changed any passwords. How do I configure the passwords. The storage, file and director daemons starts fine. Thanks!

Just change them in the files. They are just text.

if you look at the manual you will see that in bacula-dir.con the Director
container password
has to match the one in the Director container in bconsole.conf. in
bacula-dir.conf the Storage
container password has to match the one in the bacula-sd.conf Director
container, etc.
