John: I just replaced one on a 350 engine we built. I took all the pan bolts out,and it allowed the pan to drop about 1 inch to 1 1/2 in front. I then put the new gasket in and put the bolts back in starting at the front and working to the back. I had a chrome housing the had a small bend in it
