over 3400rpm. Turns out the unit was out of balance from the factory.

I just installed new U joints because of a vibration that started only at
speed, around 4thousand rpm and up. It too would happen with the clutch in
and seems to be drive line related. As usual for U joints, I jack the car
brand new, BTW.

I have heard of this problem before and it turned out to be a bent drive
shaft. Can you barrow another drive shaft from someone to try in your car?
