Woke up to some Clay-colored Sparrows singing in our field.
Took some shots of Burrowing Owls (WCR 33), Swainson's Hawk (really
close) pairs on commute. One owl was about six feet from me at dog
hole on ground. Had a photogenic Horned Lark that wouldn't move so
got a closeup of him, too.

Greetings All,
Today I had a buffy juv Clay-colored Sparrow in the willows and weeds along the
edge of Fairgrounds Pond (I believe that is the name) in Longmont. The pond is
on the east side of Hover, just south of the turnoff for Golden Ponds.

Migration has still been good in my yard. Yesterday,5/1, I heard a Clay-colored
Sparrow in my yard, [distinct buzzy call], but I could not see the bird.
Today,5/2 I saw 2 Clay-colored in the yard feeding. When they flew I may have
seen a 3rd one, but for sure there were 2 feeding.

are much rarer on this side of the state.
I have had a Merlin by the river in my backyard the past three days and
still have a Calliope Hummingbird
Happy New Year Cobirders,
This morning while walking my dog I spotted a hermit thrush on the west end
of Columbine Meadows Park in Broomfield. I alerted Matt Hofeditz and he
came over in the early afternoon to look for the thrush and anything else
we could find. We were not able to find the herm
There was a singing Clay-colored Sparrow near the tent sites this morning.
It was flagged when I ebirded my checklist for the morning so I thought I
would pass it along to CObirds as well.
Good birding,
