A gentle reminder for those considering to host a Code4lib Conference.
What follows is an echo of my message from last month and we still have
no submissions. If you are on the fence look my up in PDX if you need to
chat.

Hello,
I will be attending CODE4LIB this year, and am very familiar with the different
aspects of this position and what it is like to work at the University of North
Carolina Wilmington. If you are interested in this position, and going to the
conference this year please contact me. I would
That is the general feel I got, taking into account the idea that your tech
will be in pieces after 3-5 years (at least ours is), it is less about a need
and more about fiscal planing (if we don't replace on a regular schedule the
money won't be there for it) .
We lease because the TCO is much
Hi - Is anyone responsible for IT refresh cycles in their library? This could
be anything from computers to projectors, switches to routers, servers to media
players. Looking to see who people turn to for industry standards (within
libraries, or within colleges/universities, or the outside
We lease everything, 3-5 years is the average refresh for our stuff.

Am I missing some simpler option? Our EZProxy is running on a Windows

advice or suggestions that you seasoned EZProxy experts can share.
Set up a VPN between the two? OpenVPN should run on both.
Hi Jane:
Good choice of ILS!
We set up a tunnel between our SIP self-checkout client and the Evergreen
SIP2 server, as documented here:

Not in charge but I think MPOW pays some attention to Gartner. The articles
seem to map to hardware refresh (I tried a couple of different searches).
We're on a 3 year cycle for desktops and laptops - that's when the warranties
run out for us. I wouldn't know about switches, routers, servers.
Routers and core infra we own outwright, our core has been in operation for
well over 5years, we replace servers every 4-6 years, our next major upgrades
will take place in 2019 and we expect to be on Windows 10 by 2018 because as of
15 days ago windows 7 is on life support.

Hi Midwest folks,
A heads up. I'm planning on setting up a breakout during C4L in Portland to
kick off the C4LMidwest 2015 planning. At this point, what we know - it
will be in Columbus, OH around the tentative planning dates of July 23rd and
24th.
Hope to see you,

Alternatively, you might just connect them witn an actual private network.
If they are next to each other, this could be effected with a crossover
cable.

Hi Brian,
There are a lot of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks available that
