You make it sound as though I was dealing with beta software. I was
commenting on the inadequacy of a released product (

my data (I got it 3 days after it was released), when there was no mention

Here's what happened
I went to install MDK7.0 on an 8 GB disk with WIN98 on it.
Told partitioner to give 2 GB to Linux (leaving 6GB for Windows)
After it all went horribly wrong and I ended up with a corrupt Windows that
wouldn't boot, I started from scratch.

using such a CD to start the installation may result in some cases in
corruption of your Windows partition if it is resized during the
installation.

Reasoning to go to 7.0
1. New PC - SoundBlaster live
2. dual CD's ( one a Ricoh 7060 SCSI). Supermount sounds useful.
3. Partitioning tool to help set it all up
4. Every previous version of Mandrake loaded successfully, so why not 7.0
