Seems to happen fairly randomly. Only started happening after the
upgrade to 13.04, otherwise it never happened in 12.04. It seems more
common after resuming from suspend or hibernate although it sometimes
just happens when the system is inactive for various amounts of time.

Whenever I press the "Scan" button, the operation fails for the first few times
with the message
"Failed to scan"

After about 2-6 attempts, the scanner just works without issues.

1) gvfs is not responsible for automounting. It emits events when
devices appear and responds to requests to mount devices. As such, gvfs
is not responsible for deciding whether to give up on mount attempts or
not.
2) Instead, I believe the heavy lifting is done by gnome-

Just note to my comment #30 that after upgrading to ATi Radeon HD 7950
and normal 13.1 driver I have no issues anymore, also FF version now is
19.0.2 will keep if issue reacure

yes, I read somewhere that there was a problem with the intel video
drivers that Ubuntu reports on (but not Windows even though it occurs
under Windows as well), but I don't know what to do about it, and every
