K6LL mentions the negative comment (performance) of the 1.8khz filter
documented in the QST review. Has this been resolved?
Any update?
(If you read the QST review and the note on the 1.8 filter - nobody would
buy one, the 2.8 yes - it out performed the 1.8)
and does it matter if I buy it
In general K3 owners bought for the high performance "numbers"
The ARRL numbers on the dynamic range for 1.8 filter in the QST review
provide "great results" but that is subjective - subjective. Far below
expected numbers even if it is better then Brand x
The hamfest story below is great sales
The KPA100 is a "Must have" addition for the K2
K0WA comment on SSB for the K2 is right on - the KPA100 will work better if
the K2 is reworked by the owner on the SSB board/input

Brian,tis a relative drift?
For Example: many use the K3 with Spectrum Lab audio software & soundcard
and perform very well in measurement tests in ARRL FMT
http://www.b4h.net/fmt/fmtresults201604.php
Typically turn K3 on before work on day of FMT
can get within 1 hz in FMT (not always but
Looked at the sm5bsz pdf showing the K3 at -128 db at 100khz on phase noise
100khz to 200khz likely to be popular same band operation of K3's at your
local Field Day
however
Looking at the published Jan 2009 QST, I read -148db at 100khz separation -
aka the pdf is a bit off
