Brian, Yes, the K3S has both an internal FTDI USB to serial adapter and a USB soundcard - Usually the computer identifies it as USB AUDIO CODEC. The connection shown on page 19 is for a basic connection using an RS232 port (or adapter). If you do it that way, you would not use the USB cable
