Have you gotten as far as WiFi? Dell has a bad reputation for network

Hi Matthew,
The .xinitrc file starts fvwm. I have not found any error message that
would indicate fvwm is not running.
One of the common failure modes you mention is probably what I have!

My guess: the windows are not locked, they just don't receive any input,
because X does not see your mouse and keyboard. Make sure that hal and
dbus are started before you start X!
