Just thought I'd thank all. I was able to greatly
increase the quality.

OK, after doing searches, looking at faqs, and getting thoroughly
perplexed, I must finally ask the list (apologies; seems like the sort
of problem that's been addressed before).
I'm using mencoder with a Hauppage WinTV board on an Athlon 1400 (or so)
with 768MB ram. The quality of my recordin

quick question..
Anyone know where to find the command freevo is using for *watching* tv?
MPLAYER_DEBUG = 0 only add the mplayer output...

Mick,
The setting was not advertised. It was a hack. The real code to do this
automatically without having to set up anything has been delayed a
little but until some new functionality for events has been added to the
recordserver. it is expected to be in the real 1.5 release just not in
there yet
OK, I'll give that a go.
Where did you find that setting?

Gotcha I thought it was a pygame error appearing when xmame or something was being
started... I now see its appearing when starting Freevo itself :-)
I did initially have some trouble getting dxr/sdl working, I had to get a version of
ffmpeg that was a slightly different version for the patc
Hi John
I think you're getting a bit confused with 'games' and 'pygame'. Pygame
is a set of python modules that allows you to create games or other SDL
display things like menus. This is what Freevo uses to display all it's
menus so without pygame working you wouldn't see Freevo at all.

Does Freevo actually display ok? I got the dxr3 to work ok and films,
freevo and recordings etc display fine but could I heck make it work
with any SDL games!... they all complain about no video device or
compatible video modes.
