I like the new method. But from the comments so far, I think there may
be a couple option for an enhancement request.
1. Have a preference setting for account matching on transaction entry
where the user could set:

I hope we don't suffer from "pride of authorship". I've seen, read and
experienced enough issues with the current process that it begs for the
great coders of this terrific product to listen and improve on this
process. Thanks to all who create and manage this FREE tool.

You or anyone for the case of existing vs. new.
Honestly, I haven't had any issue with the feature at all and over 90%
of my transactions are all touching the same source account so my list
is potentially very large. I've only found a handful of variant
spellings for payees, and corrected them
That feature is currently being updated and hopefully the new version ready
for 5.2. In the new version it will be easier to cancel an unwanted match
and also matching will prioritize recent transactions in a way more similar
to how it was before in version 4. See

I also like the idea of having a separate user-editable list/table for
each account with Payees. When we input a transaction in with a payee
not in the list it could ask us if we'd like to save it to the list and
then, if yes, it could allow us to input other data such as the payee
address.

Populating the list from a separate table would be a splendid idea,
especially if the table could include the payee addresses so the
address could print on the check without typing it in each time.

Adrien,
Who are you asking to provide an example?
My point was that the manual editing method that you suggested couldn't be
used if the existing descriptions must be kept.
In my data file that is often the case.
I agree that there is a lot of 'noise' in the drop down list of suggestions
caused by
, and the list goes
on. If it only should items that start with the entered letters it would be
much better IMO.

How would you envision this would work in a case where you want to edit
an existing transaction that has a description which you've removed from
the list for new transactions? Since every transaction as it is being
entered is a 'new' transaction, where does this cutoff happen?
Maybe an example
The problem with the solution that Adrien suggests is that there is a real
possibility that the existing descriptions may be correct for existing
transactions but inappropriate for new transactions. I think there is no
solution as long as the current method is used to populate the list, so we
must
This list is populated from the descriptions used in every transaction -
in that register.
If there are some entries that are errant (such as misspellings) or
variant for the same entity (like a Payee, store name, etc.) the only
way to correct these is to change those descriptions you don't wa
Hello,
When I type in the description of a transaction, a pop-up menu of previous
entries appears. Is there a way to edit this menu? Sometimes it feels more
cumbersome than helpful.
Thanks so much!
