Part of my problem was that once I enabled sv_downloadurl, I was using ztmp
files, instead of bz2. Once I renamed them to bz2, things started working
again.
There is another HL1MP server out there that seems to have the same problem,
DDHLP Steamed!!! HLDM:S Server. runs custom maps, never able t
Ooks,
The HL1 client fast download always disconnected to get the files (and
we're darn lucky to get that on a 8 year old game!)
The HL2 client fast download always stayed connected while getting files.
A bad .bz2 will cause the server/client to ignore the file on the webhost, I

For HL1 and HL2 games, there is a command:
cl_showfps 1
for a minimal impact fps display, 0 is off and for HL2 game there is mode 2
available with a min/max.
You can also use:
net_graph 3
which has a high demand more complex display, 0 is off, 1 is basic display

Correction: HL1MP, not HL1DM. Dedicated server. I also notice that clients
no longer disconnect from the server when downloading from the download
host.

I'm not running Counter-Strike Source (CS:S) I'm running Half-Life Death
Match Source (HL1DM). I finally got it to work. I had to put the file on my
sv_downloadurl host. So I bzipped the BSP file into a BZ2 file
(map.bsp.bz2), put that on my web host, and now the client will download the
BZ2 file

hello, i know this isn't on topic, but maybe someone can remember. there is a
cvar (i know it is in cs, possibly other mods) that when set to 1 would report
the current fps about once per second to th
I cleared sv_downloadurl for testing purposes, to make sure it's not causing
the problem. cl_download_filter doesn't seem to exist, and doesn't stop map
download on other servers. It doesn't seem to matter what map. I can connect
to my server and get "Missing map...", I can connect to other server

Im guessing this is CS:S?
as far as I know maps do NOT download from the server, only via an
sv_downloadurl in any source game.

Also, the client needs to have cl_download_filter set to sounds or all.
