Its not secure vs unsecure, its VAC1 vs VAC2. Either way, neither does the
job. I would be less worried about the VAC version issue and more
concerned about the dozens of other changes to the engine since the last
64-bit build.

This is fairly simple. It doesn't matter which binary you use. The binary
loads a DLL/SO in order to run the game. Installation of metamod tells the
binary to load metamod instead, then METAMOD loads the normal game DLL/SO.
Your server is reporting that it cannot load metamod. As a result, metamod

Hi, I installed an 80G HDD four days ago, and every since, this server
will not even start, it crashes on start up every time, I know its got
issues with the metamod and adminmod stuff, but that shouldn't affect
the server starting up as it never has before,.

I believe he's referring to the weapon pricing beta.

Hmm..
This is NOT about the beta before the release, but the CS: Source beta
released this month for the use of dynamic weapon prices. There is no
problems with the non-beta CS:Source, but only with the linux srcds
for the CS:Source _beta_.

Where do we linux admins get this new update? STEAM will not update on our
newly Mandriva 2006 Powerpack systems since July of 2006. No one can answer
why. All I get from support is *DEDICATED SERVERS ARE NOT SUPPORTED*.

It's nothing to do with grunt, it's to do with non-existence. Like going
to the library and finding the book you want is
Yep, I know but maybe they are unable to delete files through steam, so they
cant delete the hlds_amd64 :)
Regarding the secure on all of your servers, I believe it's just pure luck as
the 64-bit binaries haven't been updated, you know ;)

Ditto, I've always run amd64 and my servers have never not been secure. I've
never quite understood all the drama about 64bit VAC - it's just an anti

Hello,
I discovered a bug with the linux version of the new CS:Source beta
release. The server freezes after about 10-20 minutes of play for
about 2-3 minutes. During this time you cannot type into console and
the server drops all clients. After the freeze is over - everything
goes back to normal

Fair enough. I'd have thought vac and engine updates would have been
enough to sway you toward using hlds_amd instead. As Michael's just
pointed out, Valve
Just upgraded linux engine, I'm still running amd64 binaries and my
servers are secure.
Luck or bug fixed?

Not present in command-line help, but if you still have the binary, it
will still work =p

VAC rarely stops the new cheats for us anyway - we just run a national ban
list and nuke IP's of cheaters at our firewall.
Works very well.
