I can heartily recommend Randall Faust's Concerto for Horn and Wind
Ensemble.
I could use suggestions for quality works for horn and trumpet, with
or without piano. I'm not very interested in the usual renaissance or
baroque transcriptions (I have plenty of those), but would be
interested in almost any other style.
Thanks,
Tim

Hope a few can make it. Come up and say hello.

Somewhat related to Valerie's story, a lot of you know the Nonet for
Eight Horns and Tuba by Alec Wilder. Very nice work for a not so usual
combination. But if you have played the piece you also know that the
top two horn parts are screamingly high. High enough that it can be
very difficult
Tess,
Thought you might get a laugh out of this.

would only take one disaster with a case that can't be checked to more
than offset the price of this case.
Good luck.

e "Nocturnes". Possibly the two Simon
Sargon works as well--"Huntsman, What Quarry" and "The Buck in the
Snow". All spectacular works; but I'm just not sure about how they
would work with tenor.
I imagine a lot of listers would love to know what you co
erreaching.
Not unlike, in my opinion, Mahler's occassional use of doubling.
I have no idea how possible it would be to get a copy. But if you are
a Strauss fan, it would be worth your time.

cases,
backpacks, suitcases and what not after having discovered this.
I should add that I paid for a couple of very costly and unnecessary
zipper replacements before finally figuring this out, so I know
whereof I speak.
Happy zipping.

I fall into a not-unheard-of-but-pretty-rare category of horn players
who have played the Mozart Requeim. (Those who know the
instrumentation well can guess the jist of this story, but I'll tell
it anyway).
As a college student I got a call to play the Mozart. I told my horn
teacher about
I will echo Phil Jacobs recommendation of the Thompson case. I have
taken my horn all over the world in a Thompson case and have found it to
be convenient, compact, lightweight, and protects my horn well. It is
slightly larger than the dimensions specified by most airlines, but it
easily fits in

I have a friend in Brazil interested in Willson horns. I know nothing
about them. Can anyone on the list give me some info? I will forward
any info on to him.
Thanks to all,
