I am unable to change the brigthness of the screen, the controls work

please test the 3.2.x series Precise release via http://old-
releases.ubuntu.com/releases/precise/ and advise to the results?

I installed the amd64 mainline kernel packages from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13-rc7-trusty/
according to your instructions and the issue still occurs. When I
tested, it happened every time, 5 times in a row. I'll update the
status and tags to reflect it.

activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If

I can't adjust the brightness. I try installing nvidia-current but what
it just did was change the resolution of my laptop to 800X600, so what i
did to change it back was to delete the xorg.conf in the /etc/X11
directory and uninstall nvidia-current and nv

Barry Drake, thank you for performing the requested test. Given this is
correlated to the desktop environment one uses, this would appear not to
be a kernel issue, but something to do with userspace. I'll send to xorg
(Ubuntu) for them to have a look.

Don't forget that upgrading your VM isn't enough to be booting the new
kernel, since you're booting with an external vmlinux. So, after the
apt-get dist-upgrade, you'll want to copy /boot/vmlinux out and use that
to boot qemu.
