The trick of naming a GrandStaff (instead of each staff within) has
been around for awhile (see

for the life of me I can't reproduce the effect myself.

Many orchestral scores have tempo changes and rehearsal marks appear
twice: once at the top (above the wind section) and once above the
string section. It's easy to get lilypond to print \mark once at the

download the DMG package directly from Lilypond (new with 2.6.x--well,
actually the late 2.5.x builds). You install it just like a typical Mac

I finally found the silly bug causing the problem. The fix will
appear in next versions of 2.6.x and 2.7.x.
It's also easy to fix it yourself in your existing installation.
Just open /usr/bin/lilypond-book (or wherever the program is installed,
check with 'which lilypond-book') in a text editor (a
