Maybe because they cannot switch back to the (for them) working version?

Interoperability. You cannot upgrade as long as a single member in the
team is using 1.1.5. And upgrading out of sync with the one-year-general-
distribution-upgrade-cycle is usually not an option for "ordinary user

I know a few people that stick to 1.1.5 due to the table format changes.

Nope! A lot of people didn't change to 1.1.6 because of the known problem

Make that two.
My personal _minimum_ requirement is correct reading of 1.1.5 and 1.1.6
generated .lyx. (down to 1.0.4 would be nice, though...)

So what is the proper way to use minipages in 1.1.6 in a 'forward
compatible' way?

Well I introduced this as I thought it a good idea and used it in quite
a lot of documents. The feature was to be able to indent a whole paragraph
by a defined Lenght, so that I can do something like this

Hi,
just to make it clear: _I_ am not using floatflt - at least not
conciously (actually I don't even know what it is). I justed noticed that
"Extended.lyx" is using it.
Maybe the easiest way is to patch the documentation file
by hand and wait and see how many people are complaining about 1.2.0.

Hi,
I cannot export file "Extended.lyx" of LyX 1.1.6 to "dvi" format. It
seems like there is a problem with these new "ERT" insets. Could somebody
please check whether this is a real bug or just a problem with my
configuration?
